lookong for a specific sensor on the rear tailgate

hello.

i keep getting a "liftgate open" message even when my rear cargo door is closed and jeep is fully locked.so the sensor is probably broken.

however i can not find the specific sensor for sale. any amazon/ebay links?

It is a standard small Micro-switch I believe.

Remove the switch and test it with a meter.
Electronic Component retailers should stock them.

You can sometimes carefully pry them open and clean the contacts with very fine Emory Paper then glue it back together....when I worked in the field years ago on Mainframe Computers and Peripherals I had to sometimes do this!

It's all one assembly, #8 but it may be a connector issue as well? Part 21 is just the nut.

I have seen posts where KJ Owners have replaced the micro-switch itself but maybe searching for the whole assembly...item #8...would be easier!

I personaly would climb into the wiring diagram and measure the circuitry....the switch itself may check out as electricaly OK but the mechanism itself may be faulty in which case the whole assembly needs to be replaced.

That's the switch, about $13.00. The entire assembly ran about $260.00 and it's the only way to get a new rusty clip.

Nice to see a picture of the switch...I have not worked in that area before!

I would test the switch electricaly and if needed try opening it up and get it working again if it could not be sourced seperately.

You can remove the handle assembly through the small removable plastic panel in the rear gate plastic cover if you have micro-surgeon skills. The connector is near the opening and there's a ziptie halfway to the handle that needs to be clipped. Handle assembly is held on with two 10mm nuts.

Probably easier to remove the entire plastic panel which pops loose at the bottom and sides and then slides up and off. Plastic is thin along the top and cracks easily so be carefull.
