The KK does have a JK-compatible Dana 30 differential up front, so that part is right. We don’t have a Dana 44 rear though, so you will not want this kit. We have a Chrysler 8.25 rear differential, 29 spline (same as the KJ and the later era XJ’s). There is no kit out there that I’ve been able to find with both a JK D30 and a Chr 8.25 gear set. You’ll have to get gears for each diff separately. (By the way, the XJ and KJ Dana 30’s are not compatible with the KK’s/JK’s D30.)

Ok, awesome. Learning a lot. Not planning on doing this till the end of the year but I want to be well prepared. I visit my parents once a year and have access to a full shop and every tool imaginable at that time. I always try to make major modifications or repairs on that trip. It gives my old dad something to do, primarily to sit behind me and tell me there's a better easier way than whatever method I'm doing. I listen though, old mechanics have a wealth of knowledge :) I'm kinda starting to wish I could have talked the wife into a Wrangler. It seems they are less work at finding aftermarket upgrades. She had her heart set on a Nitro, we meet in the middle with this Liberty.

Good deal. I used that link and it appears there is a distributor near me that has the KK compatible gears front and back with the master install kit for $914.33 plus tax. Seems like an okay deal.

One thing to keep in mind is that in 04 or 05 the Chysler 8.25 changed from SAE to Metric ring gear bolts. Some ring and pinions for the Chrysler 8.25 are not double drilled for both SAE and Metric ring gear bolts. However, you can run SAE ring gear bolts instead, you just need to order an install kit that includes the SAE bolts instead of the metric bolts. The SAE bolts are just a hair smaller than the Metric bolts, so they fit through the existing holes on the carrier and thread into the SAE ring gear.
