Cant search the forum for the terms so
I have a thick hide a key box and attached 2 circle with-a-hole-in-the-middle rare earth magnets via bolt and nut to each end on the bottom.
It's an epic strong pull to metal, attached it to my metal front door to test, and wow had to slide it to the edge to get it off.
I have the flat car door key in it, where should I attach it underneath?

My non oem hardware store flat key stays in my wallet, as I always have my wallet on me.
When I had the hide a key box, I placed it so you had to crawl under the jeep, placed on the rear of gas tank skid up high.

When I had one for my Oldsmobile, I zip tied the holder to the frame. No chance of it falling off. The thing to remember about those rare earth magnets is that they are usually just chrome plated, and any defect will cause them to rust apart.

I have a slim card wallet so no room for a spare key. Will do the Gas tank mount, great idea thanks

Mine on the 03 is up high, ( have to stand on rear tire ) out of site and unless you know exactly where to put your finger will never be found or seen

Always funny when I would buy or get a used car/truck in to see where people would try and hide keys LOL
best one I found was under the dash with 5 packs of condoms , never did figure that one out

Good spot also would be inside the plastic cover on the side rails , screwdriver or knife would pry it open in 10 seconds

My spare key set....chipped key with separate RKE fob..is tie-wrapped to the fuel tank, facing forward out of sight.

If I lose my set of keys I have to crawl under the rear of the Jeep and cut the tie-wrap and retrieve the key and fob which are sealed in a plastic bag.

If I had to lose my keys while in the middle of one of the Game Parks I would be totally stranded without this backup plan....getting a bit dirty from crawling around is a small price to play.

Every few months I swap over the key sets to check that the battery is still good and for the keys to wear away at the same rate. About a month ago I swapped them over and the spare key would not turn the worn tumblers to unlock the steering lock and start the ignition....the tumblers and the other key had formed a good fit together!

I had to carefully file down the spare key to get it to work and am now using it.

I should have the tumblers replaced and brand new chipped keys cut and programmed but this Jeep and I are getting a bit to old now to put too much effort and money into little things like this....the Dealers here are useless and we do not have access to good independant key-cutters/programers.;)
