Won’t turn over

I have a 08 Liberty that won’t turn over, all the dash lights light up and go out except the check engine light. The check engine light flashes a few times then goes steady on. The remote still works and unlocks the doors.

A couple of things come to mind. First, is your battery still good? Second, what are the stored codes behind the check engine light? Was there any warning that this was going to happen, like hard starts or running rough the last few times you’ve driven it?

No, this happened one time before! I turned the engine off at the market and came out a couple of hours later and it wouldn’t start, let it sit for a few hours and it started. The check engine light didn’t come on that time. It’s been sitting for two days this time and still won’t start! I haven’t had the codes checked because I don’t have a reader and I can’t get somewhere to have it done.

The battery is good I checked it yesterday. I did lose a gas cap just before I had this episode. I replaced the cap but it still would not start!

Just to clarify, your engine won’t turn over, so it’s a no-crank, no-start condition, right? (It doesn’t even try to start, correct?)
