Took the Liberty to a local shop about a month ago for a water pump replacement and a rough idle. They put in a water pump, told me the idle might be caused by a dirty fuel filter or I might need a valve adjustment?? They also replaced a couple of sensors and the spark plugs. Had no codes so they were guessing. My IAT sensor has some tape wrapped around it for a more snug fit into the intake tube, they said that when they pulled the IAT sensor out, it made no difference in the idle. I wasn't thinking at the time, later realized that a bad sensor wouldn't make a difference in or out either. (I put a new one in anyhow, no help on the idle.) Yesterday started looking things over, found a red shop rag in my air box under the filter, and found that my motor mounts are toast. Called that shop (not that I'd go back there for anything) and he quoted my 4 hours labor on the 2 mounts, this is a rear WD 2004 Liberty 3.7. Started doing the mounts myself today and expect to have them done tomorrow, total time expected, about 2 1/2 hours max. I'm to old to do some of this stuff, gotta find a different mechanic I guess.

Dirty Fuel Filter? test for Fuel pressure - What is the psi readings off the rail ?
What Spark plugs did they install ? Hopefully NGK copper core- ZFR6F-11G gap at .040 inch.
New coil packs could be considered part of a higher mileage good tune up, and smoothen out the idle.
Guessing no codes? Do you have any engine light on by chance?
IAC (intake air control) does control the idle and often needs cleaning, as the IAC & interior port can get really carboned up. Use Mopar IAC only on the Jeep.
See post 10 + https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/idle-air-control-no-screws.44826/
Hoping all goes smooth re the motor mounts.
Do you have the Factory Manual for your KJ? Very good to read sections before working on the Jeep.

Hi, Thanks or the reply. I have replaced the IAC and cleaned the throttle body. Right, no code and no ck engine light. The shop charged me for plugs, gonna check tomorrow to see if they're new. Supposed to have been the right plugs, replaced them because someone had put in iridiums. I'll check out the post you mentioned. Thanks again

Put in the new motor mounts, went pretty well. Then, blew a head gasket! About a month ago I was in Auto Zone picking up some gas additive and notice some products there that supposedly repaired head gaskets, cracked heads and blocks. First I'd heard of that and was a little surprised. Anyhow, when my gasket went, decided nothing to lose, so picked up a bottle of Bars Head gasket repair, this one didn't require draining coolant, cost about $22.00. Followed the directions and lo and behold, it worked! Supposed to be permanent and I've got my fingers crossed. Saw one youtube where a guy used it and has 3000 miles on it so far. I only drive about maybe 50 miles a month so we'll see.

I can tell you first hand it will clog the shit out of your radiator and heater core, and anywhere the block coolant channels has poor machining clean up where they have excess casting left, bypass hole in your thermostat etc.

My sister did exactly what you did and thought it would be some magical cure in a bottle.

I can tell you she didnt have problems with a leaky headgasket anymore because she overheated it and it straight up failed.

We didnt even try to rebuild that engine, just tossed it out and got a fresh junkyard motor from a rear clip and rebuilt that instead.

Well, I know that it's not going to work for every situation, but since I only drive mine maybe 1000 miles a year at most, it's worth a try. Here's a you tube with 500 comments saying it worked for them, and a few where it didn't work. As far as the heater core goes, I'm in Southern California so if it clogs, I don't really care. So far all good anyhow.
