Is there any easy way to reset the airbag light on the dash? The system has no problems other than being disconnected for work on the blend door actuator. I disconnected the battery and left it disconnected for about an hour before removing the airbag and reconnected it with the battery disconnected. Airbag light came on and has stayed on since.

My Libby is a 2003 Sport 4x4 with the 3.7

Thanks for any info you can give me!

Air bag light relates to set code that probably needs to be cleared now.
Try removing both cables from battery and then tape or bolt both terminals together for 15 minutes & see if that helps.
If that does not work, you are going to need a snap on ultra scanner to clear the code or a dealer scanner.

Yes taping the two cables together may clear the code...I would go for about 1 hour and then check all the airbag connectors you worked with.

Before working on the airbag system this above procedure needs to be done.....drains any capacitance in the system....gassers have a large capacitor fitted into the wiring which may cause a problem.

Simply disconnecting the battery does not discharge possible capacitance in the system and airbags could go off!

I did disconnect the battery for about an hour and held the terminals together for a short time. I guess i should have taped them together for a while. I will try resetting it that way and see if it works. I still have to tear the dash apart again to replace the blend door actuator when the new one arrives.

Thanks again for the info!

Hi Tracy, I replaced a heater core and distribution box inside of my KK dash last year. I also had an airbag light not go off once I put it all back together. I discovered that I had not reconnected the grounds on the dash wire harness on the drivers side kick panel, down by the hood release lever. Once I reconnected the ground screws, the light went out. Depending on how much of your dash you had to disassemble, you may have disconnected yours also.

I appreciate the information, but i haven't taken that apart yet as i was just troubleshooting and don't have the actuator yet to replace. I'll definitely check those out though and try the reset suggested earlier.

Thanks again for the help!

Well, turned out that i didn't have the airbag connector locked and it wasn't making a good connection. I had to take the dash back apart to replace the blend door actuator which turns out was not bad. The blend door itself is, but that's another topic and another post.

Anyway, got the airbag light taken care of. Thanks for the help!!
