Rocker arm falls off how to tell if it's valve spring or seat

2005 jeep liberty 3.7 back (last) rocker arm on drives side fell off? Just wanted to know how you can tell if it's a broken valve spring or drop valve seat?

I can compress spring and it comes back up. But the valve stem looks like it's lower then the other valve stems?

Also wanted to be sure that last valve is an exhaust valve and not the intake?

Valve could be bent.
I think you're right about bent valve. I was compressing spring today and noticed stem started to barely move. Sometime moved more then others but never came all the was up?
Can't seem to compress spring far enough to get valve holders off to release the spring in order to replace the stem

There's a gadget to pump compressed air in the spark plug hole to hold the valves closed but I don't know what sort of leverage tool you'd need to get the keepers off and on. Probably wouldn't work with an unseated valve.

Do a compression test. If the valve isn't closed for any reason it won't give compression. If you get good compression then it's probably just a collapsed or bad lash adjuster. If you pull all the plugs and rotate the crank at the crank pulley then you can watch the cam do its job. The exhaust valves are on the outside closer to the exhaust manifold while the intakes are inside closer to the intake. I dropped the #2 exhaust a couple times in my 02 and replaced the adjuster on the second drop. Never happened again. The exhaust rockers usually just fall out of the way. The intake rockers can really get caught up in there and do some bad things.

So if lash adjuster is down towards exhaust it's the intake valve?
I was able to shoot air into cylinder through spark plug and it held? And valve stem moved up and down when turned with crank pulley. It just never returned high enough to keep rocker arm secure?
Maybe I'll just cut the spring? Probably not smartest thing to do?
