Hello everyone, I just purchased an 02 KJ last week. One of my friends is giving me their new (approx. 1,000 miles) BFGoodrich KO2s that are 285/70/r17. I'm curious what all of the parts are needed to lift my KJ enough to fit these tires. Also, would I have to regear with these tires?

Currently, I know I'll need:
  • OME 927
  • OME 948
  • TeraFlex bump stops
  • hockey pucks
  • Bilstein 24-185660 I couldn't find the OME shocks for less than $200 so I figured Bilsteins should work.
  • Bilstein 24-139168
  • JBA UCA's
I noticed that the strut spacer plates are sold out on JBA, so am I out of luck for a 3" or so lift? It also seems like 90% of the KJ parts on JBA are sold out.

JBA is not making stuff for the liberty anymore. So what you see is what you get...
That said.
I have the file for the spacer plate. You could get cut at a local machine shop..pm me your email address and I'll send it

Even with the parts you have listed, those tire will not fit. They're too large.

Dang, that *****. I'm used to my 96 K1500 where a 31" tire looks normal and there's still a ton of room. I'm assuming that a 32" tire is the absolute max for the IFS of these KJ's? Would a 265/70/r17 work?

31s require 2.5 inch lift which is what 927/948 combo will give you
the size you want to run requires a lot more work, money, a regear to 4.10s etc
Once you start adding spacers etc you will get up where also will be needing JBA UCAs which they still produce

265-70-17s are a 32 inch tall tire and require again 4 inches of lift and regear
4 inches anymore is almost implossible to do now since the JBA coilovers are no longer
OME springs when you go that high will contact the UCAs on every bump etc
Best bet for the 927/948 combo is sticking around 3 inches with stock UCAs

done over 60 KJs so far with 2 more to do before Christmas not counting any of mine

in your first post those tires would require a 6 inch lift, at least 4.88 gears ( which is no longer possible )

Thank you for the help. You guys are awesome. I'm surprised that JBA is done making Liberty parts... they seemed like they were above OEM quality.

They were, but most, well a lot of KJ owners now are young kids who think a spacer lift on sagged out stock suspension is just fantastic and will argue all day that those of us who have played and built these for the last 15-16 years are dumber than he**

Hey Tom, I have a quick question. I purchased all of the parts for the lift, including JBA UCA's and I was curious if I'll need a Y-link extension for the rear axle?

I'm trying to go for a 3" lift since I'm assuming that's what the 927/948 combo will give me along with Bilstein 24-139168 for front shocks and Bilstein 24-185660 for the rear.

EDIT: I'm no longer going to lift my jeep, for now. Where the sway bar bolts into the rear lower control arm, the weld broke, so I now have to replace the rear control arms. I'd rather not put a grand into the lift and be SOL if something else breaks. I'm in the process of returning the parts now.
