In my Limited KK with the dumb 18" wheels, those are my basic choices. I have found Kenda Klevers and Atturo AT's also, but think I will go with one of the above. Standard size is 235/60/r18.

All of the above are 150-170 each.

I was wondering if anyone is running any of these tires, and your impressions of them.

As an option, I do have a disabled KJ sitting out back with 17 inch alloys that I could swap out, which gives me a few more choices, and cost a little less. On the Falkens and Geos, it's about $20 less per tire on the 17's.

I also then have Cooper AT3's, Toyo Open Country, and Nexen Rotiiva AT's as additional options, for around 130-160 each.

Torn on whether I want to swap the wheels or not, but I am considering it.

Anyways, any experience with the top line 3 (existing w18 wheels), or thoughts on wheel swap and the other 3 would be welcome.

Thanks much.

I am a fan of Cooper Discoverer A/T3’s. I ran them before I went to Duratracs. They were quiet, had great traction in snow, rain, and off-road, and did not hit my gas mileage.

I have the Falken Wildpeak AT3 Ws on the 03 right now and like them a lot
I ran the Duratracs on the 04 for over 90,000 miles and liked them a lot as well
both you have to keep up on rotating them
If buying today I would go back to the Wildpeaks again I think

Thanks for the input. I liked the look of the Falken AT3W's, but I will have to see if I can find them in the 17 inch size. The A/T Trails are available in both.

I'll keep shopping. Leaning more towards swapping the wheels too so I have more choices. If I do that, though, I think I'll to buy 5, because I don't think the spare on the KJ is in too great of shape.

Thanks again.

I haven't much in the way of reviews for Falken A/T Trails - maybe they're too new. I did find on Falken's website, though, that they come with 2 yrs or 3/32's road hazard warranty, which saves a little money on the install.

So, I am thinking that will be the ticket. Year before last, I was stuck in my house for 3 days when it snowed. I don't want to be stuck again. That, and I have been enjoying driving in the National Forest in the mountains, and it's leaf season now, so time to head back up - going Sunday in fact.

The Jeep came with new Atturo AZ850's, which are ok highway tires, but there have been times when I wasn't sure they were gonna make it on some of the trails.

Hope to have them by this weekend.

Think I'm going to leave the 18's for now. I hope to buy an engine and fix the KJ sometime soon, maybe over Christmas. The wheels that are on it go better with that one.

Another question on this.

The factory tires (Goodyear Eagle Sport in my case) were 107 XL rated. If I go slightly taller or slightly wider, even in all-terrains, they are:

28712816 235/60R18 XL 6 107H BSW 6.5 - 8.5 7.0 29.3 9.4 721 11 34.2 2149 50 680-A-A
28712815 235/65R18 SL 4 106H BSW 6.5 - 8.5 7.0 30.2 9.4 702 11 36.8 2094 51 680-A-A
28712811 245/60R18 SL 4 105H BSW 7.0 - 8.5 7.0 29.7 9.8 714 11 36.4 2039 51

The top line is stock size, and is 6 ply 107 XL. The next line 1 inch taller, and is 106 SL. The last line is 1/2 inch taller, and 1/2 in wider. It is 105 SL. The latter two are 4 ply rated.

I was thinking of choosing the last one, which is 105 SL. I guess my question is how much difference would there be in the real world between 105 SL and 107 XL?

Thanks much.
