Hi there,
New member from San Antonio,Texas. Just bought a 03 2wd Liberty Wilderness Edition "as is" because it supposedly had a seized 3.7 engine. Turned out to be a locked up A/C compressor and clutch. Engine runs fine.

This is my first Jeep or Chrysler product but the price was right and it will probably be a great first car for my daughter.I'm usually a Toyota pickup guy so there will definitely be a learning curve. So far, this thing seems pretty simple to work on.

Thanks,
Bibbt in San Antonio

Welcome to the forums.
I guess no one tried removing the serpentine belt, and try to start it.
This sounds like a very good jeep and probably a smoking deal on it.
I am sure your daughter will be happy and safe in the Liberty as well.
What plans do you have for it and what color is it, we like kj pics here too !:)

Ok, I don’t know what I was thinking when I wrote my first post but my 03 Liberty is actually a Freedom Edition. Bright Silver paint with dark gray flairs and bumpers. 17” alloy wheels, dark charcoal fabric seats with off white vinyl. Since it’s 2wd, it will probably stay stock. Yep, I was amazed the no one thought to remove the serpentine belt to see if the engine would turn. I got very lucky. I tried to post pics but they were too large.

The Freedom Editions are quite nice in appearance. ( I changed the title for you) Silver is good.
I also have 17's on my Rocky Mountain Edition & quite like them.
Overall the KJ is fairly straight forward to work on and make for a safe ride.
Did you install a new AC compressor?
As far as the photos go, I use IMGUR and just upload them in there.
Then copy and paste directly the BBC code and you are goods to go. ;)

I have all the parts ordered to replace the compressor and get it back on the road. Should have it all by Sunday or Monday. Noticed at least one of the ball joints has a torn boot with rusty steel showing. I'm gonna head over to a dealer with the VIN and see if the recall has ever been done on this vehicle. I will report back If I am successful with the repair being covered under the recall. Any other recalls I should be really looking for? Wasn't there a fuel tank recall at some point?
Thanks,
Bibbt

If you don't have a hitch they will add an extra bumper to protect the gas tank. Also rear lower control arms in many kj were recalled. Just cuz it's 2wd doesn't mean it had to stay stock. The stock suspension is poopy regardless
