After 16 years of owning a kj Im finally having window issues. Cant complain really.

This one has me a little confused and Im curious if anyone else has had this issue. Ive read all about the regulator issues and the plate that you can buy to repair it.

My window hasnt fallen down and works just fine, except half way down it stops. If I pull it up some by hand it re-engages and goes on up just fine. For months Ive been using it and just stopping it shy of half way down.

So what would this be? I can push it on down by hand. My understanding of how this works if a long screw in a tube is attached to the window and a motor with a gear moves the screw back and forth in the tube. Did it break in the middle or something?

Left rear window is the culprit.

Could have broke in the middle. Or could be stripped out in that area for some reason. I'd just replace the regulator and be done with it.

Went ahead and spent too much on a mopar unit. Figure it lasted 16years so it will hopefully last 16more.

Sad thing is, never had any issues out of my zj windows and its 25 years old.

Finally got the part in about a week ago and got a chance to install it over the weekend. The spiral was indeed broke in the middle which just seems odd... I would like to see what breaks on the 2005-2007 models. The new one I bought appears identical to the factory one. Would like to know what the recall regulator does and why its necessary to change out the glass...

Getting the small clip off and on was the hardest part. I found removing the speaker and rolling it all the way down was the easiest way to remove and reinstall it. The little ball stud on the glass must be pushed on fairly hard to get it to pop into the clip.. I dont believe you need to remove the clip to pop the ball into it, it'll make sense when you see it.
