I just replaced the tailgate actuator due to the tailgate hit not opening.

Anyways, after replacing I have to press unlock 3 times for the tailgate to unlock. 1st press the drivers door, 2nd is the passenger doors, then the 3rd unlocks the tailgate. The window will open after the 2nd though (when pulling on the handle as normal). Previously after the 2nd unlock the tailgate would be unlocked, was it not functioning properly before or now?

I haven’t replaced anything else that would effect this since owning the liberty, and I wouldn’t think the motor would change that function.

It was a brand new part so there isn’t an issue with cleanliness.

I’m thinking maybe something with the added resistance of the glass won’t allow it to unlock fully with the 2nd unlock?

Any ideas on where to begin diagnosing?

Actually I dunno, I’m in my other truck at the moment- I can check tomorrow. I’ve never used it if it is present- just because it unlocked with the passenger doors on the second unlock in the past. It is the typical 2003 remote though.

Yes I do have a tailgate button on the fob.

So apparently the glass MUST be open for the gate to unlock, and I have to press the unlock button or the tailgate button twice AFTER the window is popped open for the gate to unlock. This is different than it was before, any ideas?

Might be programable options in the owner's manual determining how many button pushes to do how much and beep or not.,,;.?

But that wouldn’t have changed just changing the latch right? It should be stored in the computer I’d think.
