Yes, but it is gone now. When you see spam feel free to hit the report post icon and report it.
I do my best to keep spam away.

Thanks Liberty tc, I was looking for the report button but didn't want to chance spending much time in the post!

I have been getting the same spam occasional when I sign in and look for new posts. It has been happening ever since the new software update.

I doubt it has anything to do with the forum software, the spambot finally found this site. I banned this bot a few weeks ago on a site that I am a moderator on and after searching I found this spam jas been going on for over a year now, they even hit Microsoft technet

Can’t we lock the forum and new users can apply but not activate account pending moderator approval?

On one forum I am a moderator all new users need their first post approved by a staff member before it is displayed but it may not be an option because of staff here or the forum software may not allow this option. I know there are stopforumspam plugins for many forums but that isn't always reliable.

It’s not like approving members by hand is going to be a all night job. How many new users do we get each week?

The one nice thing about KJ country is that we are a fun & easy going bunch overall, compared to many other forums.
We have always been an open family forum, with many great long term contributing members.
For those that turn out bad or Spam us, we deal with them in a fair & appropriate fashion, like many other forums do.
The staff are dedicated and volunteer their time to help others, & if you view our staff list, you may realize...
With Halloween soon approaching.. We are just a dancing skeleton crew!

I would love to know what percentage of spam leads to any actual profit, no matter how small, for the jerks who do this.

I’m telling ya. It’s more work plucking weeds then it is approving members by hand

To me it is six of one and a half dozen of the other. To me, banning spammers when the first post is moderated is like shooting birds on the ground or fish in a barrel
