OK, mechanic just called me, and apparently Cylinder 6 is only showing 25-30 PSI of pressure.

Is this a death sentence?

Cylinder compression test revealed 25-30 psi in cyl 6, that is bad news. What were the readings on the other 5?
Could be really worn or damaged ring in 6, by the sounds of it. Rebuild or New 3.7..eek.

I know it sounds bad, but I didn't really ask. Lately, I can only take bad news in small amounts before I need to find something to distract my mind, because it feels like I'm drowning. I did call my normal mechanic and he said he tested compression, but only did a static test, not a running test, but the compression was good.

I'm waiting for the mechanic to call me with some prices, but I really don't want to call to find out.

Could it be the lack of compression is caused by the heads/ seat or stem seals?
Did he try a leak down test on cyl 6?

Not sure. I talked to him again last night, and I mentioned a regulator when he said its getting too much fuel, and he said he was going to put it on the computer to check the pressure next. Hopefully will get it back today.

I guess he didn't check fuel Pressure. The Computer doesn't do that but the mechanic should!

Going to the mechanic tomorrow. Will ask about the leak down test.

Edit: Called my original mechanic and he gave me a number for engine guy. He's going to be giving me a call in a few hours with a qoute for a Jasper.

Guy who has my car now called back as well. Says he can find 2 engines, one with 51k on it for $1600 and another with 90 for $800

Not really, when it's the Jeep 3.7 engine. I've been battling with cylinder head issues for 2 years now (I've written a separate thread about them) and if I'd known what's ahead when the P0306 error first appeared I'd changed the engine right then. Now it's too late. My engine has been open in the shop for 2 months now since I've still no idea what causes the burnt intake valves. After reading this thread I really need to check the fuel pressure next.

I'm going with the 51k engine. The Jasper with kit and install was just over 6k. The install price between both places was the same. Maybe I'm not in my right mind from breathing in mold and toxic fumes while cleaning out my house, but I need something that's "mine" and not ruined right now.
