GASCAP Alert

I had this wonderful thing pop up a couple days ago. Checked with my ODB reader and have no codes. The gas cap is on there good.

Any suggestions? I would keep researching this but am due to leave on a trip tomorrow and would feel better if I knew something else to try.

Could be a weather cracked hose as well back near the tank

Try another Mopar gas cap first. Over time, the old gas cap washer may not seal the best anymore. I'm on my 2nd one.

Any danger in driving it until the new one arrives?

There is no danger driving the way it is, providing it is just the seal on the cap. Did you reset the dumbputer, as in disconnect the battery. It may have been loose, but would take a few cycles to clear.

There doesn't seem to be anything to reset, unless this is independent of ODB2. I used my scanner and it says there are no codes.

Small or other EVAP leak code should appear, unless your code reader is sound asleep lol...

TC - Thanks, I had read through that. My rush was due to the fact that I was making a long-ish trip yesterday and didn't want to risk getting stuck 125 miles from home.

So... I went anyway and had the GASCAP thing blinking at me almost the whole way. From time to time it would let out another chime. Then when I was over 100 miles down the road it started chiming like crazy. The daggone thing sounded like a pinball machine. Bing! Bing-bing!! Bingety-bing-bing-bing!!! I was thinking to myself, "Well, this'll be fun having to pull over, get a tow and a rental, then drive back down to pick it up once it is fixed. And I'll be at the mercy of whoever it gets towed to, since they'll know I'm from out of town and won't be as likely to quibble about things..."

And then it stopped bing-bing at me. And the notice went away and never came back. And stayed that way until I got to where I was going. Never came back the entire trip back, either. I'm going to stick the new gas cap on when it gets here and wait and see what happens next.

Wow that is quite the experience! I'm surprised you did not get a " Tilt " light !
Hopefully the cap fixes it!

At one point there it actually sounded like a slightly lower-pitched version of that! My wife thought it was funny, though I was not quite so amused.

I was afraid my day was going to end as badly as this guy's:

Gee I had no Idea that it would---------and I quote;

I based my answer on my jk's gascap light being on, which never , and I quote once again ".Bing! Bing-bing!! Bingety-bing-bing-bing!!"
And yes it usually is associated with a p0455 or a p0456, which can take a few days to pop up/

Poor Prof, I do not think I could have tolerated the bing- bing for very long.
Honey do you mind if we pull over for a couple of minutes while I attempt to clear the current set code?
Disconnect both battery terminals for 4 minutes, then touch both terminals together for 1 minute.
Hopefully that would have shut it up.

The thing is, I never got a code. Not when this happened once before about four years ago (which cleared as soon as I shut down and restarted), and not this time either. I have an ODB reader and also a code reader built into my Garmin Mechanic and they both told me there was no problem.

I haven't moaned and groaned about it lately, but I got broken into nearly five years ago which resulted in nearly everything in the steering column being replaced. Ever since then I get a phantom TPMS light which blinks for sixty seconds every ten minutes. (No chimes, thankfully.) Maybe this is just another phantom "let's cry wolf" type of thing.
