I have an 05 jeep liberty renegade 3.7 and I'm having some jolt and sputtering issues was told it could be the fuel filter..watched a video of someone with an 03 and its mounted to the outside of the tank with two clips into the pump and one towards the engine...when looking up an 05 there was a bunch of things saying its inside the tank and the fuel pump needs to be removed, does anyone know if that's the case with a 2005?

Fuel filter is integrated in the pump and it's non-replaceable on the '05 unless you drop the tank.

can it not still be accessed through the door under the trunk carpet like other years to replace the pump?

There is no door under the trunk carpet like on the '02 and possibly '03 models.

It also is not replaceable without replacing the fuel pump.

Get a fuel pressure regulator hooked up into the fuel rail . What is the psi key on, while running, and after 15 minutes as a leak down test, psi #s needed.
Sputtering issues, new spark plugs with the correct gap, also comes to mind. Jeep likes new plugs every 40 k !

Any OBD2 codes/engine light on?

there are no codes but my plugs have 125 000 kilometers on them not Sure if misfiring under a load would cause a code or not but I better start there as they need to be done

Wow 125 k, please measure the gap on those plugs, I bet they are way out of spec, post a photo too~!!
I also meant to say in post #5 fuel pressure gauge not regulator. I had regulator on my brain from the sedan last night.

I read some stuff that said nkg gives a expectancy of 40-50k miles but on an unaltered engine expect 60-80k 125 000km is 77k miles am I really that far off here with replacing them?

Let's put it this way, the Jeep's coil packs fire these plugs hot, & the gaps can get eaten away quickly, and then out of spec.
So every 60,000-70,000 km should keep the Jeep happy.
