Hi All,

I am now the proud owner of a 2005 Jeep Liberty Diesel. Color me surprised as up until I walked on the lot yesterday I was looking for an F250 diesel!

Drove it a long ways home (about 150 miles) and I love it already for everything I need it for.

It is in great shape, which is surprising as I am owner number 10. One thing I would like to get working is the sunroof. When you go to open it, it will vent. However, if you hold down the vent or the auto button to open it all the way it grinds a lot and doesn't open.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Here is the sound it is making:

Here are images of the connections in the roof. Driver on Left, Passenger on Right.

Welcome to the forum.I cleaned up your double posts for you.
Would recommend try posting your photos to IMGUR .
It is very easy to copy and paste the BBC code directly onto the forum, they will then show up with your post, just trying to help.
Sorry I do not have a sunroof or know what is wrong, but other members will hopefully help you out with some ideas soon .

Much appreciated!

While I'm waiting for a reply, may I ask you a couple of questions forum related?

1) How do I delete a post that was a mistake?
2) How do I edit a post I've already made?
3) How do I change my avatar?

i would try to see if there's anything in the way of the side rails causing it to bind.
Since you can only vent, potentially getting a borescope might be helpful. I believe you can get one from autozone's loaner tool.

Also new here and I also want to change my photo. If I click my account on the upper left, I can't figure out where to upload it.

I also think you can't delete it and edit it :(

The drip tray that connects to the drain tubes has been known to come loose. That could jam it up. I think it's held by two screws up front accessible through the open sunroof...

There are some microswitches that stop travel when it's all the way closed or open. The clicking sounds like the ball chain is skipping because the motor didn't shut off.

When was your last timing belt change?

Figured it out! The drivers side track assembly is ruined! That is fine as I now know the problem. Took out the window and the sunshade to figure it out. Downside is it isn't sealing correctly so I need to order a new one and get it fixed ASAP before I have to drive in the rain!
