Ordered a LED 2721 bulb for the gear shifter. Despite being amazon, it's still shipping e-packet from China. Will report if it works well.

Got my 07 back from the bodyshop after replacing the rocker panels.
Did a good job of welding them on and painting, but trashed just about every molding clip and used christmas tree clips in their place and most of them popped loose on the way home.
Ordered more clips to replace them.
Now might be a good time to rob the Renny flares an put them on the sport.

replaced driver's front hub, and now my ABS/EBS/TC lights are all off again.
also discovered I need front brakes really soon. probably rears as well.

I liked the way these EBC YellowStuff pads stop, but them pared with their slotted rotors is a good chunk of change, and they didn't last all that long. $520, 3 years, just under 30k miles.
Anybody got recommendations for pads that'll stop like boat anchors, especially under heavy (towing) loads, but will last longer? Or am I asking too much given it's a Jeep.

Not today but in a few days I'll be cutting holes in the hood of the 03, found another set of Pontiac GTP hood lovers for a great price from a former KJ owner .
Can't wait
Besides that, I just drive it 90 miles a day over twisty, curvy , hilly, bumpy, terrible two lane roads in Southeast Ohio

Haven't taken the time to really look at it to much, but was mostly curious on location in your expertise. Not that I couldn't figure it out, but like you said you done a few, so it would save me some contemplating.

Was part way through a 110 mile trip and heard a constant squeaking noise... new noise, hadn't done that before. I thought perhaps plastic or something had come loose.

Then the THUD, noise stopped, but so did my power steering, and then the battery light came on. I thought, oh, I lost the drivebelt.

Nope.

Opened the hood and found I had no drivebelt, as expected, but also no pulley on my power steering pump. Was sitting, still pressed onto the shaft, down on the frame rail. Bearing had failed catastrophically. No warnings beforehand other than 10 mins of squeaking.

I limped it 2.9miles to a parts store where I bought a new pump, new pulley, pressed the new pulley on and installed the pump in about 20 mins... topped with fluid, purged most of the air out, new belt, sprayed and wiped down the mess and off on my way.

Idles smoother now, seems to have more power and the remainder of the trip and back I avg'd 1.0mpg HIGHER than I had been getting over the previous 2 months that I had been tracking it.

It would not surprise me if the pump was failing for some time, the bearing getting stiff, wearing out without noise or indication, dragging the engine down a bit as it did so.

16 years and 148,000 miles... I suppose it lasted long enough.

also...
not the jeep, but I'm wrenching on the neon; replacing the passenger motor mount, which is a complete bastard of a job to do. 2.5 hours to get it out, then bolted back in. Now I just have to reinstall everything else I had to pull.
also looks like i'm going to be needing a passenger axle soon. there's grease flung all around under there, but I can't find a tear in the boot. I think I might have spotted a pinhole though.

Where did it sound like the squeaking was coming from? I just heard some squeaking start as I pulled into my neighborhood last night, but didn’t hear it this morning driving to work. Mine sounded like it was coming from the drivers side wheel well.

Indeed from the front left corner... it was not an obvious "under the hood" noise. I thought it was rubbing plastic, or that the front left teraflex bump-stop came loose.

I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the power steering pump then, just in case. I wonder if that’s part of my fuel economy problem as well, I don’t think mine has ever been changed, and I’m at 235000 miles on it.

Out of curiosity, what’s normal mileage for you? I’m getting 14-15.5mpg on average, and I know part of it is I need 4.10 gears, but I wonder if there’s more going on as well, as I would expect higher economy than that with all my freeway driving.

When I installed the 265-75-16s my mileage went to 14-15, 2 weeks later when the 4.10s went in back up to 21-22 on the highway at 75 plus MPH
They are a dog with larger tires installed, that why even with the 265-70-16s on my 03 I installed 4.10s, makes driving a pleasure

Washed it.
Was planning on touching up a bunch of paint chips and waxing; but the rain got here before I planned.
