Towbars

Earlier this year I bought a towbar for my KJ from Towequipe (trading on Ebay as Only Towbars) I didn't use it straight away so have only recently found out that there is insufficient gap between the tow ball and the spare wheel for my trailer hitch to fit on. Has anyone else had this problem?
The other problem I am having is that Towequipe are being less than helpful. They only agreed to refund me after Paypal stepped in and are now insisting I send it to somewhere in Italy, despite it being supplied from a UK address. You only get to find out if a firm is any good when things go wrong.

generally people do one of the following:
1) use a bar with a lower drop (if practical)
2) use a bar that sticks out farther (your shins will quickly curse you)
3) remove the spare tire when towing
4) flip the spare tire carrier over to raise the spare up a bit (it'll make opening/closing the back glass interesting though)

I used to do #3, then i lifted the jeep which necessitated going with #1, which cured the problem.
So basically, lift your jeep and get a lower drop tow bar

It's not convenient and not always easy, but I attach the ball to the trailer and back the Jeep reciever onto it. My trailer is small and can be manipulated by hand to an extent. A drop hitch should work if it works with the height of the trailer.

I have a hitch extension from tractor supply, coupled to big ol steel hitchbasket (it's the shincracker,even with reflective tape) for clearance. I've never put more than 1200 lbs on the extension though so not sure how it'd work for you.

All, note the OP is in the UK. They do things differently for their hitches and tow bars. I don't even think they make anything like an "extension" for those kind.

Whoops, didn't notice that , spent a little while on wiki and Google, and now Ive learned more...and realize I know even less...
If only the whole world used pintle hitches lol
