That's really unfortunate dak'. Looks really clean underside too, not seeing a ton of corrosion. Was a clean KJ. If it's totalled, and ins. gives you a check for it (assuming full coverage), I'd consider putting it towards another KJ.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have full coverage either so I was thinking of replacing the radiator and cooling fan and some hoses to get her running and then pick and pull the front end cosmetics

learned something.
the driveshaft joint caps, are specific to the side of the joint itself. that would be why i had such a bastard of a time getting it together and on the jeep, and probably why the c-clip failed on me.
I took pictures. I'll post 'em later.




"thin" flange is the front.
"thick" flange is the rear/boot side.

I installed the correct window carrier in the regulator today. I'll do the other side another day when it's either warmer or has to be done.

got the snap ring to sit on what was left of it's retaining groove, then spot welded the shaft on to and over the ring. head won't come off now.

before anyone gets all butthurt, the shaft is toast anyways from the prior "incident." if it works now, great. if not, i'm out $9 for the new covers and some welding wire.

Did a lot of work on the jeeps and noticed the JBA powder coating on the upper control arms failing and rusting through. Anyone else experience this ? Is that premature for powder coat? They will be 2 years old in July...
Also what is odd is there is nothing making contact with them and I regularly wash the jeeps, even in winter and both have been oil treated.

Not me, but my husband finally replaced the bumper cover and foglight he smashed accelerating very ******* a highway on ramp that curves and goes uphill. In the pouring rain. He also replaced both side marker lights since he was there.

Dang, I didn’t get a pic. Will do that tomorrow.

If you keep them clean, should last a bit longer, the 03s are over 3 years old now and the 04s are about 7-8 or so( have to look)
Of course after a few years the powder coating started flaking off my ARB in a few spots , so anything can happen.
Powder coating does not mean they will be perfect until the dinosaur's come back

Oh for sure I didn’t expect a lifetime out of it.
Just curious if I’m the odd ball. It’s completely gone from around the front of the ballpoint and starting to pit higher up on the arms. For what I paid for them, I make sure they get wiped down each time I wash the jeeps. Real nice eye catcher ya know
I have lower arms powder coated on another vehicle(custom adjustable arms) and they are going on 7 years. Only have to wipe em off each summer.

Id say they are the biggest conversation piece on the whole jeep. It draws people’s attention and they ask about the lift etc etc. and I get to tell them about JBA and how to do it right.
Maybe we just have really toxic winters here.

I looked at the fuse panel for the first time, finally. The oil level is full. I'm loving having a vehicle that doesn't leak a quart every thousand miles.

Mine still look good after 2.5 years. I'm in the Cleveland area, so winter is no picnic. (We got three inches of snow here last night. Really nice to get "'Winter' Storm" warnings nearly two weeks in to spring...)

Maybe they use different stuff on the roads here. I try, but I'm not as good about winter washes as I should be, so maybe I'm just lucky.

Had a great time out at the cove in gore VA this past weekend.
