I have the opportunity to purchase a couple KJ’s on the cheap.

They both have issues, but between the two I believe there is enough to create one running vehicle.

My problem is they are both automatic. I loathe automatics, I have even gone as far as converting other vehicles from auto to manual. That said how many manual trans KJ’s were even produced? I would need a donor for all the correct parts. Everything I look at online or in my local area is automatic.

Produced quite a number of them, but overall a small amount compared to the automatics

I love my 2002 Export 2.5 CRD 5 speed manual but my next vehicle would definitely be an auto....joints getting a bit old to keep pressing on a clutch pedal!

The modern automatics are a major improvement on the old ones but they are a lot more complex being controlled by computers and solenoids which can give problems but when everything is working well the new autos are a pleasure.

I think in an off-roading situation I would be happier with a manual box!:icon_cool:

Id LOVE to have a 6 speed manual in my two CRD's. I know I could do it, but I think it would be a big headache.

My 04 is a 5 speed, I think they came in 6 speeds manuals from 05 and after, I have a beater car that is an auto, The Liberty 5 speed is easy to shift and trouble free and glad I have it.

When I bought mine the dealer had about 30 liberty's - only 2 were manuals..
