Seems the Liberty uses a little oil, about a quart in 5000 miles (which is not much). I have used Restore in my older Fords with great success; has anyone used it in the 3.7L?
Thanks!

I have never used restore product before. How many miles are on your 3.7?
These engines do produce some blow by, & check to ensure the PCV is not plugged up.
I have used Lubegard bio tech engine treatment with good success.
Helps reduce smoking by restoring flexibility to valve stem seals for improved sealing, also providing outstanding upper cylinder lubricity as it frees up sticking rings

Valvoline Maxlife high mileage oil- also has stem seal conditioners as well, use 5W-30 only.
I normally change the oil & filter every 3,500 miles.

Thanks.
It has about 124K. I replaced the pcv in the spring and it seemed to use way less oil. Thanks again for the info!

HAVE NEVER USED IT OR ANY OTHER PRODUCT THAT CLAIMS TO MAKE THE ENGINE BETTER.
whoops caps on
I use regular Mobil 1 full syn changed every 3-4000 miles and a " very good oil filter"
Don't use extended life oil either
The 04 I bought new has over 235,000 miles and still doesn't really use any , some people claim miracles using some of those products but most are snake oil

My KJ is at 190k, been using Mobil 1 High Mileage since she passed 100k. I add Restore every other oil change (every 7500 miles for me) and the only time I've ever noticed oil loss was when I had a pinched filter gasket. Now, does that mean Restore makes it last longer? No, but it hasn't hurt it at all.

I've used it twice, though not on the Liberty.

First time was in an '89 240SX with the 2.4L. worked well.

Second was in a '98 Accord with the 2.XL. Had to tear it this one apart apart because it clogged the oil passages and screen for the VTEC.

Haven't used it since then and am leery to use it ever again.

Based on this, personally, I wouldn't.

Restore can help, but I’d only use it if you know the engine is on its way out. I’ve had one engine respond well to the treatment and one that had the oil pressure sender get clogged from it.

But if you know there’s a problem then it’s worth the risk. IMO If you’re engine is otherwise ok then just keep with synthetic oil and regular changes. I don’t know restore will cause a problem but I wouldn’t put it in a healthy motor.

1qt in 5000 miles is well within spec for normal and expected oil consumption in almost any new car made in the last 10 years...

So if you change your oil every 3-4000 miles... you should only be down by about 1/2 to maybe 3/4 of a quart... hell, I only drain out 3.x qts from my KJ every 4000 all the time. Plus a little for the oil filter, I don't worry about it.

Not sure you have a real problem here unless you're trying to go for extended drain intervals...

Have a 05 jeep liberty, the engine has around 235k on it so the engine needs rebuilt but for what it is it's not worth the rebuild just trying to get what I can out of it. Anyways it has severe ****-by and its fouling the plug on one cylinder. I put restore in it and it stopped missing and so far oil consumption is way down. I did not do compression tests before or after but have been noticing more get up and go on hills. So far I am impressed but will need to see how long this improvement lasts.

My 04 ( for example ) I bought new has 233,000 miles , uses maybe an 1/8th to 1/4 quart of oil every 3500-4000 miles
Nothing but 5W30 Mobil 1 and nothing else all of its life
and will still smoke the 32s real well ( enough power yet )

But some people do swear it makes a difference , not sure if it does or not , and use "enhancers" every oil change

I use a bit of MMO, but mostly as a preventative action for the top end. Is a staple of flats four engines, figure a sixer can't hurt.
