Ya that's what I'm thinking
Now I noticed the idle was a bit weird kinda bumpy in a way. Could it be that the idle is thinking it's cold so it's giving more fuel? I was thinking about bleeding the fuel system but it has a screw on the fuel rail and the book says I have to depressurize the fuel system prior to loosening that screw. Is that true or can I slowly Crack that screw and let the air escape? It also says it's self bleeding but don't know if trust that or not. Thanks again you've been a lot of help

Hi, I am new on this forum.
I have the opposite situation. I own a 2003 Jeep Liberty Limited and the electric fan turns on about at 219F and turns off around 213F. So far, everything is fine. The problem is that after 3 or 4 on / off cycles, the fan stays on all the time and the temperature drops to 186F. If I turn off the engine and wait for around 30 minutes and turn on the truck again, the problem dissapear and the fan starts to turn on and off normally 3 or 4 times and after that the fan stays on once again. I have to mention that the fan wires become too hot in order you can't touch it. I have replaced the fan relay located near the battery and also the ECT. I don't know what else I need to check/replace. Has anybody experienced this problem? thanks for your time to read these lines and provide any guide.

I am using Prestone "ready to use" coolant product.

Regards

Is that coolant HOAT type?

Hi,
I'm not sure. But reviewing owner´s manual, mopar coolant type (MS-9769) meets ASTM D3306 ASTM D4985 and Prestone also meets.

I always have been using Prestone for my Jeep and my VW Jetta without problem (no overheating).
Do you think it could be the problem? Should I change it for Mopar?

Could be another sensor the culpit to have the fan on after 3 or 4 on/off cycles?

1. you should probably start your own thread.
2. refer to this to make sure your cooling fan indeed has an issue.

3. I had the same issue with the wiring going to the e-fan getting very hot. I replaced the e-rad fan and also replaced the 2 pin connector. I also did replace the fan relay as well.

Thanks LibertyTC for the info! I will review and make the flush and change the coolant.

But I still have the doubt. Why the fan stays on all the time after 3 on/off cycles and it's neccesary to turn off the engine and wait around 30 minutes to "reset" the the fan to normal operation (turn on at 219F and turn off at 212F) for other 3 or 4 times prior to stay on all time.

I don´t know what else I need to review/test/change

Regards

It's absolutely normal to have the fan ON when coolant temp sensor is unplugged.
The symptoms point to a bad sensor. I have had this issue in an old european car (Fiat Uno). A bad sensor makes FAN operates until the battery is discharged (in worst of the cases). If you get a 5 volt from connector and if you get a voltage drop less than 100 mv, the problem is in your coolant temp sensor.

Actually, 214 Fahrenheit is 101 degrees Celsius.
The thermostat doesn't even open to allow coolant into the engine until the engine temperature reaches 90.5C (195F). So at that point there is no need yet for the fan to be on.
But my coolant starts to over flow around 90c
