Hey guys

Strange question.....

I need a 4.10 gear set for my axles - and as it turns out some manufacturers claim they have 4.10 gears - and some say they have 4.11........

why is that and can i mix and match- and install 4.11 gears on the rear and 4.10 on the front?

NO! On the mix and match. 4.10. 4 cylinder KJs came with 4.10 factory. Find one and swap. A whole lot cheaper.

The fronts are 4.10's and the rears are also 4.10's.

Some vehicles and axle combo's there is no "same gear ratio" for the front and rear, even when stated but it is okay to run different ratio's up to like 5% difference but the fronts must always be a lower ratio so the front tires spin faster than the rears.

Take my old KJ with a HP44 front a D60 rear, the fronts had a true 5.13 gear set but the rear was actually 5.14's but labeled 5.13's.

In Israel the CRDs are probably the "Export" spec as we have here in SA.

My 2002 Export 2.5 CRD Manual Sport came out with 4.10 front and back...rear diff has the Trac Loc limited slip fitted which requires the addition of Friction Modifier fluid from the Dealers.

So maybe some of the 2.8 CRDs also have 4.10 diffs fitted as the 2.4 L gas KJs do. My Jeep has a label on the rear axle stating that it has 4.10 Trac Loc.

Try your local Breaker Yards to see what is there.
