Well, my key got soaked and now it doesn’t work at all. I took it all apart, let it dry, cleaned with some alcohol, replaced battery and still nothing.
Obviously, I can’t even start the Jeep with it not working, so what now? I only have this one key.

Edit: Just figured out how to fix my issue!
Turn ignition on, turn off, press any button on key fob within 6 seconds to re-sync the transponder back to the computer in the Jeep
All is good now :emotions34:

Nice! But you should really have an extra key because you never know when one will stop working.

Even with spares, I'm worried I could loose a FOB or key one day.

Good that you got it working.

With only one key you need to guard it with your life.

These new keys suck that they have been using on all vehicles the last 10+ years... With my 05 and the built in key and fob you need 2 working keys to program a third key. In the not so long ago "old days" you could go to anyone that made keys and get another made in 30 seconds for .99 cents.... now, it's go to the dealer and hand them your wallet, and just bend over and drop your laundry......

We have they key with the fob built in, don’t like it. Had one of the original keys case break. Already had a cheap spare programmed in, but the Chinese keys with electronics are questionable quality while the oem electronics are better they do not sell oem quality key blanks and case so I bought a blank key and case as close as possible to the oem design and put the original key electronics in it and had the key cut. It’s worked well so far.
My advice is get a second and third key programmed for the jeep, maybe even get a clone key from the hardware store, keeping in mind it’s a clone of the original key not a “second” programmed key.

Yeah I have my spare key and separate fob taped up under the Jeep for me to use in an emergency. I sometimes swap them over so that the keys can get worn to the same level...surprisingly the original batteries in both fobs are still good after 16 years and still lock/unlock the doors from a fair distance away.

I have 3 spare keys. My jeep is currently under going a restoration of sorts, so if a shop or me looses a key i can just order a new key and reprogram it myself once it gets cut.
