Hi! My name is Megan and I have an 03 jeep liberty. I just recently got a tune up and new coils, and now it's overheating while I'm idling at a long light or drive thru line. I don't have any problems any other time. My a.c. also stops working when idling. I have poured quite a bit of money into this jeep already in the last couple years and if it's a big fix I'd rather just trade her in. Thanks in advance for any input

Is your e-fan working? Coolant levels ok? Just a heads up overheating is the primary way to hurt these engines.

Did you have coolant replaced at all? These pressurized systems need "burped" or you can get a bubble that acts as if there isn't enough coolant. Also as said before. Check level of coolant and see if the fan is working. Those are the BIG3 over heating issues that are easy fixes. Check your oil too if it looks like a chocolate milkshake you've got a bad head leak. That would likely be a killer. Good luck!

Check your water pump, belt, and belt tensioner, too. Fortunately, those are all relatively inexpensive fixes.

Do you know for sure that you have HOAT coolant in there?

I'm having the same issues. Put half a gallon of coolant in the tank. I'll see if that was the issue. I put a new radiator and water pump in the last six months.

If your A/C stops working when you stop, then you have an air flow issue. I would suggest turning on the A/C with the jeep fully warmed up and see if the cooling fan turns on.
