Hey guys, I have a 2004 Jeep liberty 3.7v6. I wanted to put bigger tires on it but was scared it would look bad. I've done research and found out the biggest I can go is 31 inches with out having to lift it. Would that look stupid or does anyone have any ideas on what size tires to go if I want to do a little mudding?

Where’d you find the information that you can run 31s without lift?! :happy175:
I’m lifted over 3” and barely can run 31s..
You can’t run anything but stock size unless you lift and to run 31s have to be over 3” lift at least

You should look in the lift section of this forum, some great info there. Most of tyheseguys have been there and done it all. I found the guide for what you need for different trye sizes very helpful.

Bet your suspension is sagged at least an inch so even stock would be close. 31s need 2.5 to 3 inches of lift ( real lift , like in full spring lift not a spacer lift)

Biggest tires you can run on a stock Jeep Liberty are 245/70/16 tires without rubbing. This is what I have and I like them. There 29 1/2 inch tall tires. Ride is better then stock I think. You can also go to 225/75/16 tires if you want mud tires on your jeep. There slightly smaller then the 245/70/16 and also skinnier.

What is the stock distance centre of wheel to guard supposed to be unsagged? Measured mine and they are all equal, but I don't know what unsagged is meant to be. 2007 3.7 unlimited.

Care to link that info to us? Never have seen that be said on here
There is NO way to run 31s without lift, even if your Jeep were brand new with no sag they wouldn’t fit
I wouldn’t even waste your time in trying to get any tire bigger than stock if you aren’t lifted because it won’t help but maybe a little bit with traction but that’s about it
As I stated before, must be over 3” lift with pounded pinch welds and it’s still close to rubbing when turning

As he said^it’s impossible to do 31s on a stock liberty without a lift. 29 1/2 is the biggest you can go.

AFTER April 12, 2002 it would be 19 inches from middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare

Same here Disco95. I’m at 153,000 miles on stock springs with no sagging and I do off-road.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
what would be the best wheels for a little off roading? Just mud tires in stock size?

You will not find any mud tires in the stock size(most common is 235/70R16's).

You would have to use 225/75R16's for any MT's.

I drove off the dealer lot with half worn 245/75R16 MT/R's(old style) on my then brand new '02 KJ that was "pre-lowered" and it rubbed like crazy and that sat 3/4" higher the "lowered" KJ's built after april of 2002.
