Hey everyone,
I'm already looking into customizing my Jeep liberty lol. I was wondering if anyone knows of a company that makes a snorkel kit or if you guys custom fabricated one. If you did have it custom fabricated, what did you pay?

Thanks :),

What all have you done so far to "customize" it ?
Most start with a upgraded aftermarket suspension, skids, tow points , wheels, tires etc

Tom, I understood "looking into" to mean he's not necessarily done anything yet. As far as for looks, a snorkel is a great eye catcher to start with.

Still deciding on purchasing a store bought one or constructing my own. Store bought would be prettier. Muffler shop built would be hands down tougher.

Besides, he's a 21 year old kid. Impressing the ladies should be first priority!

That would be the last thing to do to impress the young ladies, they would want to know what that thing is sticking out of his " cute" car:happy175::happy175::happy175::mwah1:

Y'all give the kid a break! He is gonna need that snorkel when doing all those deep water crossings in NH when he's taking a car full of ladies on a camping trip. Plenty of great wheeling and back roads in NH and the North East Kingdom of VT.

XMS02KJ, what do you have on your Liberty already? Factory skids, rear trac-lock? Give us some info here. I do have to agree with Mr.Mudd though, you'd be better served upgrading the suspension to start with, money much better spent.

Intake for the air is already pretty darn high, if you're doing it for looks that's cool is your Jeep. If you plan on some actual deep enough water crossings to warrant a snorkel I pray for you and your Jeep, cuz you're gonna get wet and likely do some damage.

X2..........................

Without doing the rest of the "deep water" fording mods you will damage many other items.

I have many years of experience with actual deep water fording kits that allowed the vehicle to traverse 60" of water, stop, turn off the engine, wait 10mins,re-start engine and continue on with no damage.

Impressive! I'd venture to guess that's some pretty serious mods

All Marine Corps HMMWV's come standard with a deep water fording kit.Every single wire connector is water proof(not weather proof like civilian vehicles),snorkel, extended exhaust pipe, and a modified PCV valve with a switch that has vent lines running from all components(PS pump,trans,t-case,diffs,and geared hubs) so when you turn the switch to "fording" it forces the crank case pressure into all those components forcing air out the seals so no water can enter.

Of course when some idiot turns that switch when not fording well you get to find out how long it takes to replace all 22 seals.Had to do that more times then I can count from idiot drivers.

Sounds extensive, I'll be keeping my fording reasonable. What are these kj's rated to fired anyway? Does anyone know?

You'll get water in the cab once it's over the door seals if you stop moving. I've dipped the hood under while crossing areas that were 10-25ft wide with no issues. As long as you don't stop moving you won't get water inside.

Only connector I had problems with was the one that goes through the cab to control the rear wiper. It got wet and would short the power pins causing the rear wiper to go on by itself. I've since covered the connector with liquid electrical tape and haven't had it turn on by itself since. I also killed an e-fan because I forgot to turn off the AC and went it to deep water/mud.

I ended up pulling my carpet and Raptor lined the interior. Was too big of a pain to dry out the carpet whenever I'd get stuck in deep water/mud. Just never turn the Jeep off if you do get stuck.

Also as you see below walk it before driving it. (Pics were from before I got my snorkel, and one is from an abandon possibly stolen truck we found left on a trail)

also since I got a locker I haven't got stuck yet in any of the same spots pictured above. So if you don't have anything done yet I'd suggest Lift > Tires (+ gears if going with 31"+) > Locker(s) first.

I've also wrecked me e-fan by going through a water crossing with the A/C on. I have the safari snorkel but the air flow is just as good (and a costs a bit less too I think). Just make sure its sealed properly where the snorkel meets the air box if you do plan on deep water. I also use a Car bra for deep crossings and give the engine a liberal spray of WD-40 and di-electric grease on the coils, connectors and anything else that I can reach.

Ive been stuck in about 3 feet of water on one occasion. I was on an angle so the passenger side filled with water. Not too much, maybe about 6 inches deep in the passenger foot well. It too a good month to properly dry out.
I made sure not to turn the engine off when I was stuck and got snatched out pretty quick. I was probably sitting in the water for about 90 seconds all up. This was in Nolans Brook on the Old Telegraph Track (youtube it if interested). Nolans is notorious for claiming vehicles due to its depth and sandy bottom. It looks deceptively easy but it can go bad quickly!

That's a great pic! What fender flares do you have? Mine are super faded and I'm trying to decide if I just want to bedline them or replace them with something cooler.

They are the stock flares. The Freedom Edition has the same flares as the Renegade. If you ever find a set for sale snatch them up. Hard to come by. I ended up removing the fake rivets and putting real bolts through them. No more plastic rivets that I would always break.
