How briefly can one run the engine without the serpentine belt?

Thanks

I've been googling and yt around.
Haven't came across something that mentions how to get the plug out without removing the valve cover.

You can run a engine belt less for a few minutes, you are basically watching the temperature. Some mud boggers and other racers don’t use a radiator because they only have the engine on long enough to complete a run.

the little plug in the motor I disassembled I just pried it out with a very small flat head screw driver but it pretty much ruined it. The mopar part is readily available, sorry I don’t have the part number but the part is around and not too expensive as I recall, I’d source it just in case.
I’ve only heard of a hand full of these seals leaking.

It should be called access hole plug in mopar catalogues.
Maybe part # 53021031 but I’m in my smart phone and can’t do a good cross reference.

I think ltd02 posted the p/n a few pages ago.

Do you just push it in to installed the plug?
A rubber mallet maybe?
Do I put some oil on the o rig and the sides of the plug?

Thanks all again for the help!!!!

I’d think it would just tap back into place but I never reinstalled it it was a autopsy of the old engine to see why it was oil gunked to death.

Maybe somebody has a timing job write up with instructions on this.

Yes, oil on the o- ring and Yes you just press it in by hand. A rubber mallet to tap it in would be fine. Might be worth popping the valve cover off if you are that worried about messing it up. Or just by the replacement plug and o-ring then you could get the old one out by any means necessary.

Part numbers are posted a ways back.

Thanks all.
I'll definitely be buying a new plug and o ring.

What about the plastic plug itself? Would I need to oil the sides?

I think I'm burning up more oil then it leaks but hoping I'd loose less oil after replacing this.
Wish I had bought Bob's kj a few months ago.

O-ring would be sufficient but probably tough to oil that without it getting all over the sides anyway.

The new owner is a lifelong Jeep guy but first time owning a KJ. I would have loved to sell it to you since you know so much of it's history... :emotions34:
