Later today I get to test drive the jeep for the first time since the big crash over a week ago. I was able to source all the parts, but the kicker is that I need to drive 7 hours each way to pick them up. I also have a plan to buy a Hemi Jeep Commander for my new daily driver and then retire the liberty to being my fun vehicle and/ or toy.

I did the same about a year ago but unfortunately I needed to sell the the KJ :blah: But the upside is I love my Hemi Commander - even put an OME/Bilstein spring lift on it just like I did with the KJ a-way back when.

Lots of aftermarket support for the Hemi, and since the Commander has the exact same chassis and suspension as the Grand Cherokee there's no problem getting parts. I'm still running stock tires on mine and don't plan to change since we tow a travel trailer now and a smaller bass boat and I want to keep the gear ratio the same as stock.

Filled up the tank, washed off the salt & gave it a quickie wax, moved the Aux input box behind the dash so it looks a little cleaner and installed new wipers.

Took off the center console because the 4wd lever doesn't feel connected - and nothing on the transfer case end moves when I shift into 4 low, but the cable is connected on the transfer case. Discovered that the cable IS connected to the lever and there doesn't seem to be any adjustment.

So I guess my cable broke somewhere in the sheath...crap.

Got a flat tire coming home from dinner tonight. :favorites68: I will see if I can patch it at work tomorrow or if I will have to plug it.

At least you know. Most people would be paying big bucks for someone else to be clueless... "'might need a new transfer case... trade in.... shinynewdebt...'".

I drove to Reno for a doctor's appointment, then took myself out to lunch. There was a car wash right next door, so I got the exterior special, with Rain-X. I shoulda took the stubby antenna off, so now it's slightly bent, but she's all clean and shiney.

Fifty some odd miles of my 80-mile drive home was accompanied by a CHP behind me. I had set the cruise control at 69 in a 65 before I saw him and decided not to slow down just because he was there. Then I dropped to 59 in the 55 zones. He signaled to turn off at the CHP office in Portola and I waved my hand, not really thinking he would even see it, but he did and waved back.

Haven't been on dirt in a few weeks. I guess I should pencil that into my busy schedule.

I hope you don't find them with your tires. :Insane:

No, was up in the yard, installed new security lights, gable ends of the home place. Up on the ladder, winds howling, trying to hang on :happy175:
And then they dropped out of my mouth...........:favorites68:

At least they dropped OUT and not down your throat. Otherwise you'd have trouble making it through airport security. :Violin:

I still remember the day in the fifth grade when a kid swallowed a thumbtack. A teacher tried to reassure us by saying it would be OK, all they would have to do is pump his stomach. As a ten year old with a vivid imagination I decided that if it were me I might rather live with the thumbtack in my guts than go through that.

Washed mine today, had 300 miles of road salt all over her beautiful body!
Real Feel temp was 6 degrees at the time:favorites68:
Brought it home, fired up the heat in the garage and let her thaw out , my baby was cold , now she is nice and dry and toasty warm again
Even went out and laid under her for a while just to make her feel good !:happy175:

Found out that my mechanic was able to get the heads on and buttoned up early, unfortunately there is a "soft plug" on the head that is leaking so he had to contact the company he got he heads from and I still have to wait. The worst part is we are supposed to get 12" to 18" of snow in the next few days. My old XJ will be great but I want my new (to me) KJ. :(

I don't have heated mirrors, but I'm seriously thinking of pulling the door apart today and see if the wiring is there, to add them in.
