Hey everyone, I don't own a KJ but my parents do. They have an '07 and my Dad has mentioned a couple times how he wishes he had a rack of some sort up on the roof to be able to strap down a couple light pieces of lumber on occasion to haul. I'm not talking construction work status but like 5 eight foot long 2x4's or something on occasion... Their Jeep has the two rails running length wise along both sides of the vehicle.

Are there factory Jeep crossbars available? Or is there a good aftermarket setup that isn't going to break the bank?

I'm thinking Xmas idea and trying to keep the price reasonable so I can hopefully get a couple other items as well...

Thanks,
Khris

That's pretty much EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I'd seen a few of them online but wanted to verify they would work as it's not my vehicle and I honestly am not even sure what the factory bars running front to back look like. That price range is perfect too for the budget. Was hoping to keep it under $200 so...

After I posted I found some detailed pictures of how they secure and didn't realize they were somewhat of a universal setup. That's totally fine for what my Dad wants to be able to use them for.

In my searches before posting I saw lots of info on building your own and if it was my Jeep I absolutely would jump on that. I build competitive off road race trucks that have won championships and big races in the US, some crossbars would be no biggie but as a gift I'm thinking a finished production piece will be better.

I'll get a good look at the current rails they have and pull the trigger on a setup sometime this weekend.

Thanks for the replies, it's definitely appreciated!

If hauling lumber you just need some cross bars is it, no rack
10-15 bucks at most

Yes, he doesn't need an actual rack per say. Just wants the crossbars so that he can strap some longer items up on top on occasion. Light lumber, 6'-8' aluminum a-frame ladder, stuff like that...

Found a used set of the crossbars in the first reply to my original post with keys and original packaging for $25 shipped! Done and they're on their way!

Just to follow up, I won't know until Xmas but the crossbars showed up last night and they look good. For the price I found them for I think it's really really hard to complain! We'll likely cut them down narrower for the Jeep but I'll leave that decision up to my Dad once I give them to him...
