Drove it up to Gettysburg in the rain then back home.

Got 22.9 MPG for the trip. Not bad at all...

Drove it to a ski swap and got some old K2 Triaxiels for fun, $8. They look hardly used, they were the shit back the late 80s/90s. Hardly fit in the KJ, had to fold down both back seats and move the passenger side seat all the way up to fit them diagonally.

Thought it was the diff seal here:

But looks like the pinion seal. This will be a first if I actually do the fix...
It almost like there is a crack behind the drain plug.

These would make a great "caption the pic" thread. Getting the driveway redone and new fence to be able to drive the Jeeps into the backyard. Getting a new circuit added to run my welder. Slowly upping my fab abilities here.

Yesterday, quick trip into and back from the city to cover a big 15K race (over 40K people running!!). On the way home, I heard some new creaking from the rear suspension of the MK (I think). Will have to dig into it today or tomorrow.

Any recommendations for a front driveshaft brand besides $600 mopar?
I was cross referencing brands from rockauto on eBay because I have a large credit/coupon to use but I don't want another dud aka "proshaftparts" brand

Drove out of state all weekend - 3 full full ups. Either winter gas is super crappy or 90mph for hours at a time are not fuel efficient;)

Can't you just put new joints on it? If the shaft itself is compromised/bent etc just get one from a junkyard and throw new joints on it.

Drove it to the Eastern Shore to my best friend's parents' house, then to DE for shopping and dinner, then home. So I've been to 5 states in the last 3 days.

Got 21.4 for this leg, 22.9 for the first leg, over 600 miles total.

Just an illusion/casting seam. I wiped it off and topped it up and that whole area from the pinion to the drain plug stays dry until I drive it then it must allow the gear oil to leak from pinion while spinning. Hopefully it will keep until after my Thanksgiving trip.

It will, just check it once a week or something if you drive it everyday. I nursed an axle seal leak in the LR3 for a month or so, had to top it off once a week.

That's what I'll do (it is my DD). Parts are ordered just no time to mess with it for a few weeks.

At least the KJ is easy to check, the LR3 you have to remove the driver's side front wheel and then jack the passenger side up by the same amount.

Another fun filled trip down home , plus a couple of stops in some old hang outs. Only about 290 miles today , and didn't get thrown out of any of the old watering holes so great day.
Preparing the farm for winter, some things in, some bringing out, some won't run :happy175:

What's your mileage like on a tank of gas? I once had 280 till the light came on but lately it's been maybe 220.

Yeah. I thought it was easier to just a buy a brand new one and bolt it up.
Can't find my original....
