I know I'm contributing to the off- topic subject but I have an air impact, full impact socket set and full tool kit made by DEWALT and they far outshine any other brands I have used.
I once sold craftsman products for a living but I wouldn't waste any of my money on them. Not what they once were, they are gimmick tools now.

Ok. So for the person who's thinking about getting into wrenching for themselves, what's the choice for a good quality durable tool kit. Gone are the days of the craftsman 100+ kits being not only good values for the price but good tools in general.
Gearwrench. Husky from HD is pretty good. Kobalt from Lowe's is good too.
The HF kits aren't as good as their non kit things.

Finished the suspension overhaul. That driver's side UCA really was a pain... Had to cut another LCA bolt, the rear one this time. And again, the other one just slid out with no issues whatsoever :emotions34:.
I would have liked to do the struts and springs as well, but just couldn't afford it at the moment.
Also found out that whoever ruined the bleeders on the front calipers, did the same to the rear calipers... pfff. So I had to go buy a new set of those. Tomorrow I'll have to get up early to install the last caliper and bleed the system, then take it in for an alignment at 8am. It just got too dark to finish everything now.
I forgot to take 'before' pictures, but it basically was just a huge chunk of rust. The white streaks in the first picture is hail. It was supposed to be in the 60s and sunny all day, instead we got rain and hail. Not exactly ideal conditions to work on something like this. :Insane:

God da*n thats pretty. Id like to do this to mine soon. You should do a build thread with part numbers/sites you go parts from so others could do the same overhaul [emoji6]

Moog Problem Solver upper control arms, lower ball joints, inner and outer tie rods. Timken wheel hubs, Napa reman calipers, Advance Auto lower brake lines. I hadn't originally planned on replacing the calipers and brake lines, but the rust was so bad I had no choice.
The clevis brackets, knuckles, and lower control arms are original Mopar parts that I got off KJs at a junkyard and then cleaned up (and installed new Moog PS bushings in the LCAs).

Kudos on the clean up work if you got it all from the 'yard. Even something that isnt from the rust belt would look pretty beat up after a minimum of 10 years, and yours look great!

One thing I noticed, on the sway bar end link, shouldn't there be a washer before the nut? Not sure but I seem to recall them on mine.

Technically yesterday but I had a Pioneer stereo installed. I only wanted it for Bluetooth but it actually does a lot more. I have my GTI sound system upgraded so I don't really care about the Jeep's so much but now I am thinking of swapping out the speakers too as the stock speakers are 10 years old and aren't the greatest.

Wow your knuckle is way cleaner than mine lol. I too used all moog problem solver parts for the overhaul. Alignment was corrected today. Can't wait to leave work and pick up my Jeep.

Went for a short ride, never got to where I was headed though.
In traffic brand spanking new Tacoma TRD Pro pulls up on my left, lady asks if I can pull over since her husband wants to talk to me.
She owns a KJ and wants a lift, he told her none existed:happy175:
Seriously didn't think there was any.
So we talk, she jumps in with me and we go to their house, nice VERY clean black 05 Limited with only 42,000 miles.
So another one very soon to lift, full JBA Total Control lift .
So by then even forgot where I was headed, maybe tomorrow I'll get those new light bulbs for the kitchen:gr_grin:

I put in a Kenwood system with a 13 band EQ that also has 3 Q settings. My stereo is really clean right now. Kept the factory 6.5". Took some wrangling to clean up 80-400 hz, but she's dialed in. My Bluetooth gets flakey sometimes. Once I had a car next to me trying to cut in with theirs...
It should be noted that I have a combined 10k hrs behind live sound or studio consoles; analog, digital and hybrid. I'm just a *bit* picky about sound.
Oh yeah - my 4 Link and isolators arrived today. I guess I get to play with the angle grinder. My longer brake lines are in too, as 4 Wheel Parts informed me as I was typing this up!

Awesome, probably sounds clean. I don't know how to tweak audio too much, I just know what sounds good to me. I can do all other mechanical work but I don't mess with electrical all that much other than hardwiring radar detectors or tuning equipment.
I'm looking to swap the speakers for something a little better, nothing crazy.
In my GTI I have factory 8 speakers and added a JL StealthBox with a JL 10inch powered by an Alpine MDX 6 and it sounds really good in the hatch, but the rest of the system starts to wash out so new door speakers and tweeters will be next.

Thats great, when I started having KJ owners over for once a month M&Gs there were some who had never done anything.
Since its a big no-no to stand around my place with a beer in one hand and the other hand in your pocket they soon learned. Proud of some of them who now do tuneups, oil changes etc on their own.
Well actually started with CJ / XJ / Bronco owners etc back in the 70s

Thanks! Yeah I somehow lost a washer when I replaced those links a couple of months ago. I intended to replace it as soon as possible, but completely forgot about it until you mentioned it. Oh well, it hasn't caused any issues so far, I guess it'll be fine for a bit longer - after this whole ordeal I don't really feel like working on the suspension for a while haha.
