Decided to get ready to do the rear UCA. While I have tires off and it up on jacks, figured I may as well slide in some isolators. So, the parts list is growing. 3 isolators (extra on drivers side), longer brake lines, tri link extension, rear UCA. Ordered the brake lines today.
Changed out the spark plugs and ignition coils too. Holy Smokes! What a difference. The plugs in there had just tiny little nubs left - to where it was like .130 gap. Yeesh.
Oh yeah - finally found some double sided tape that's actually keeping the blue tooth mic in place. The other stuff I tried kept melting loose when the cabin heated up in the sun - then untuck and fall. Ridiculous PITA. $6 roll for 1" of tape used :happy175: :favorites68: :Insane:

So sorry to hear about both of these. I hope they went peacefully and with plenty of loved ones around. And I guess you two already know you have plenty of friends here at JeepKJ Forums that care about you.

The title of this thread doesn't mention which Jeep I worked on today... 
Gave the Commander a good wash for first time since some paint and bodywork at a local shop. And yes, it needs springs and shocks. About to place an order with JBA on an OME spring/shock setup...
Then decided to dive in and change the spark plugs. The Hemi has 16 of those buggers with VERY long threads - used a right-angle cordless ratchet to speed things up. Funny how folks on other forums complain about getting to the plugs but I didn't find them any more difficult than the KJ's plugs. They obviously hadn't been changed in a while - all 16 looked just like this one:
And I drove the KJ to a local tire shop to look at some options to replace the Duratracs. Haven't made up my mind yet. :shrug:

Beautiful Commander, damn I love those.
Had a Hemi Durango that I never bothered to change the plugs on...since there were 16 of them. :gr_grin: OE ones lasted long enough to trade it in at 79k miles!
I can't be sure from the picture, but does your "Trail Rated" badge reference "Hemi" on it? I saw a Commander in a parking lot on Sunday which caught my eye because it had the word "Hemi" superimposed over the corner of the badge. Wish I had snapped a picture.

Just because they gave it some crappy 4wd mechanism doesn't make it a jeep.
My Dodge Shadow is probably better off road, with the right tires.
Heck it has done some off-roading in the past.
Also, I think you need a new drop for your draw bar.

Duratracs are a GREAT tire - especially in snow. Really good in rain too - and didn't get loud until the last 1000 miles or so. But I've gotten almost 80,000 miles out of them...
Ha! Guess you changed trucks instead of plugs, eh?
The project looks more daunting than it is. Once the engine cover is off and you get a good look at the coil packs (that cover 2 plugs each) it's pretty straightforward.
No, mine just has the Hemi badge on the rear hatch and the Trail Rated badge on the front fenders. I'd love to have that badge on mine though... :waytogo:
