Hey all,

Tried searching but couldn't find ~exactly~ what I needed.

Trying to decide between 245 75 16s or 265 70 16s on Moabs. I'm sitting at about 22.5 all around unsettled (I will be bringing her back up with top plates after settling) with stock A-Arms. (I do plan on Al's arms in the future. I am not planning to regear away from 3.73s

I assume that either combination will rub a bit...but would prefer to go with the slightly larger 265s.

Is this a good plan of attack? Or am I going to waste some serious money on tires that are just going to shred my Jeep's flares??

IMO 265-70-16s fit on a MOAB really well, much better than a 245-75-16. Same height, little wider and look good on the MOABS.
If you have the OME lift you shouldn't have to trim much if any at all

Understood. I'm mentally preparing myself for it since I don't have any extras except a small space in each clevis.

Thanks for the confirmation that this is a good move!

265/70R16 GY SA's on Moabs with Frankenlift II Premium. Needed to flatten pinch weld and trim some plastic behind the fog lights. The lift is about 8 years old so has sagged a little, but still works well.

I'm running 265/70-16 Duratracs on Tom's suggestion - and they do fit the Moabs better. I ran 255/70's and they weren't as tall as 245/75's but they were wider. Ran those till they wore out.

My KJ must be one of the oddballs - I had to do a LOT of trimming behind the fogs and they still rubbed, even with the 255's. Needless to say the pinch weld was hammered flat. But the rubbing is all cured now - I got an ARB :smoke2:

Please clarify....Ima getting ready to take the plunge on new tires(have the Moab's).Will regear in the future. It's not a DD.

Takes more lift which puts CV's at worse angle. Takes more trimming. 4.10 gears are perfect for 265/70R16's, but 4.56 gears would be better with 265/75R16's, however you can't put 4.56's in the front, etc...

However, once you get 265/75R16's under it, they definitely look good.

Looking at this same Tire size on my CRD. OME + top plate and Iso's. Going on Alcoa Wheels (8" with 4.75" BS) Trying to decide between 255/70/16 and 265/70/16 Nokian Rotiiva AT's. No re-gear for now. Hopefully a re-gear and 265//75/16's by the time these ones wear out.

Concerned about getting enough clearance and the mileage his on the 265's. How have experienced been out there?

Seemed to work out for Jim.

With 4" of lift, I still rub the 265/70/16s on the front fenders a tiny tiny bit. I had to pound the pinch welds to make it work. They would probably work with 3+ inches.

But known fact have to run more bumpstops, so less available flex. Just don't see the reason at all. :emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::emotions34::mwah1:

People know what happens when a wheel sticks out an extra quarter of an inch.

10.5 tread width? or section width ?
Its yours Thank goodness

Oh wait you have 31-10.50-15s , same height as my 265-70-16s although section width is wider on mine and tread width is about the same 8.2 - vs- 8.2
I never go by section width, only the rubber hitting the road

Not sure I understand guys.

I cant imagine the .25" makes that big of a difference. Essentially the same as the Moabs that a lot of people run. With how ucb tires varry I'd be very surprised to be significantly outside the fenders.

I'm prepared to be enlightened though.

Based on dudes rubbing issue, I'm leaning 255 on the CRD. Though I'd really like to make 265 work. I'm not going more than 3.5" with my offset diff.

My wifes has moabs with 1.5 spacers with 245/75/16 duratracs. Thats 3.5 BS. It definitely rubs and throws stuff on the side but nothing rediculous.
