My 05 idles down there all the time when warm between 550 and 650 and no shake. The 02 idles (or used to) around 650-700 with no shake.

My sliders got gummed up like that. I just took the goofy bushing off and never felt or heard a difference. I change the sliders with every brake job and the next time I did the fronts I didn't even bother putting the bushing in. Thought they were supposed to stop some rattle. I couldn't tell but I'm half deaf anyway.

and that's exactly what the resolution was for most of the folk that had fords with that style caliper slider pin, was to cut off the bushing and grease the snot out of it i >think< they're supposed to keep them from chattering, but all ive ever seen them do is cause the inside pad to drag lol...

now when greased properly with synthetic grease they work, "ok" for a period of time anyway. but eventually even with the synth grease theyll swell and stick. it's kind of what rubber does

I just removed the muffler and tail pipe assembly on my KJ. I have to say it sounds a lot meaner now. It's not too loud or tinny because the cat is still in place. I'm putting a 45 degree dump pipe after the cat using an extra flange I got from a salvage KJ muffler. I'd like to hear if others have done this before.

My definition and yours must be way different in what sounds meaner

I would get a muffler and tail pipe back on it. You should have "backpressure" as provided by the exhaust system. You could use a "magnaflow" or something similar.

He'll find out after a few days the power loss and gas mileage....

I like the tone and sound of my setup. Power loss is negligible or nonexistent, it accelerates just as hard and fast as ever. Fuel economy is not much of a concern either, I mostly drive in a 30 mile radius and usually set cruise control on the highway. I also can swap the muffler back in in about 5min, so if I need it quiet it's not that hard to do. At the end of the day, there's nothing like pulling alongside a guy in a truck with 4 times the money in his exhaust, and still sounding better than him, then blowing his doors off when the light goes green.

Uh... OK.

I guess if you like it....

Just remember, just because you can't "notice" the power loss or change in engine dynamics, doesn't mean it's not there. Many an engine has toasted an exhaust valve from short, chopped off exhaust pipes.

I mean, you ARE an automotive and mechanical engineer with years of experience and computer assisted models for showing engine thermodynamics and flow characteristics, right? So you can properly map out and see in simulation how chopping 2/3 of the exhaust off does nothing bad to anything..

(Should I have made that last part in purple font? Nah...)

Not to mention that unless you have some sort of turn out to get the pipes out from under the passenger compartment, you have a potential for exhaust to get up into your cab with you and your passengers. Be careful there.

Sounds like an oversized lawnmower lol! Been there. Had it off for a couple of months before finally getting a Magnaflow. Lots of complaints from girlfriend and family too.

The only 6 cylinder that sounds good is a GM 292 straight 6 with a split manifold , straight out the back. Never heard a " really " good sounding V-6 yet.
Or the same engine with a pair of Smithy's
Now we'll see how old you all are !

Does anyone have the DUI S.O.S ignition coils, I may buy some and want to know how they perform. I know you can open the plug gap a lot with them.
I've got the accel yellow ones, got them cheap thru work so that's the only reason I'm running them over oem Mopar

Wow, I'm not that old but I've heard of Smithy's. Not in a long time though. They're like the original Hot Rod muffler. Summit still sells them I think.

I have an extension from the end of the cat, it pushes the end about 9 more inches to the rear and has an angle towards the ground. That helps keep drone down in the cab, keep flow characteristics more uniform, and sound nicer than nothing at all.
