Noticed when parked if I turn the steering wheel right slightly, I get a pop that I can feel in the floor. If I turn it left it's quiet and after turning right once, I can do it again and it's fine.

Steering rack is a Napa reman, put it in back in November (praying I don't have to rip that thing out, it won't be pretty:help::happy175:). All the tie rod ends are new Moog expect the passenger side outer which is a Napa/Spicer premium one (greaseable).

I'm thinking I might need to retorque the bushings or outer tie rod nuts? Could it be ball joints?

Thanks for the help!

I have no help since I am new to the platform but can tell you from experience with coilovers, sway bars, endlinks, subframe stiffening kits, bracing and so on that once you start messing with these parts either upgrading or replacing then other parts will need messing with or changing as well, part of the never ending story. This is why I am reluctant to mess with the suspension on the Liberty because I went too far with my GTI and almost ruined the daily drivability of the car and am always chasing after noises even though everything is upgraded. It's a beast in the canyons I'll tell you that.

I will check if I get the same popping while in park

HJ have someone turn the wheel while parked, while you look for any movement/noise, while underneath with a good inspection light.

Well the passenger side steering rack bushing took an 1/8th of a turn or so.

And the passenger upper BJ is getting ready to fall apart, but I'm guessing that's not an issue. :D Lol.

Think that could be causing some pops? lol

Mine also has a single pop and it's the end link... have somebody shake ur vehicle side to side by pushing at the top of the divers side window. I could see it moving back and forth and when grabbing the top of the end link I could feel it making the popping noise.

If I remember right, those rack bolts are 120 ft-lbs. This is where air tools come in handy!
Any ball joint that has play/ even slightly questionable = replace yesterday!

Replaced the BJ last night, everything is tight and it still does it.

One other thing that I just remembered is that it hasn't had a proper alignment after the steering rack replacement. Just toe since they couldn't align it for some reason. Now with the new BJ it's real tight but twitchy. Could the alignment have something to do with the pop?

I was getting a pop because of worn sway bar bushings. Replaced those and all solved.

Definitely need alignment. On IFS, camber, toe, and caster all affect one another. Can't just align one without at least checking the others. (Caster being the least important of the three)

When did it do it?

And yeah, definitely needs an alignment, just other stuff got in the way.
