02 liberty 3.7. my dad used stop leak to fix a radiator problem without asking me first. So, I had to replace the radiator due to a hole and the water pump and thermostat due to overheating. I'm not getting heat from the vents. I flushed the whole cooling system 5 times and the heater core another 5. I will only get heat when the rpms are up around 2000. If I shut the fan off for a couple seconds and then turn it back on, I'll have burning hot heat for like 2 seconds then back to barely warm. I need help.

Did you get all the air out of the system? I was having a similar issue until the air bubble came out.

Sounds like air in the system. You need to make sure you fill the cooling system through the bleed port on the upper hose. Slowly fill through that port until coolant comes out then put the plug back in. Top up the coolant tank. Start the engine with heat on and rev to 2k for a minute. Top up coolant tank again. Hold revs at 2k until the fan turns on. Now go for a drive and see how the heat is. You may need to top up the coolant as air works it way out.

What brand of thermostat did you install ??

The Mopar has a brass bleed air hole. Other brands can fail out of the box sometimes.
It can take a few days + to get the air out, and when cold always refill reservoir to cold line.
When Hot I would just loosen the bleed screw, until no air bubbles came with fluid & then tighten it.

I hope you used the right coolant. dealer HOAT or Zerex G-05 ONLY in the KJ!!

Also, just a tip, be sure you're using the right hex head on the bleeder screw. Really annoying task getting a stuck one of them out.. pretty easy with the right extractor, but just rather you don't run into the issue if you don't need to.

I think I have all the air out. I did fill through the bleeder until it was nothing but coolant coming out. I even squeezed the hoses to help the air out. The engine temp always stays right where it should be also, just below half way on the gauge. I am using a green antifreeze. It says for all makes and models. Would that make a difference?

Yeah. That stuff will gum up the cooling system badly, especially if there's a mix in there. Get it flushed out and replace it with Zerex G05 (Napa or Advance, OReilly's sometimes) or Mopar stuff, make sure you get HOAT.

Would that really cause it to not produce heat from the heater core? It's not mixed with other brands. It's been flushed completely out and the green stuff put it. The color is still bright green so I know it's not mixing with anything.

The wrong coolant wouldn't cause no heat to be produced. The rad stop leak could have partially clogged up the heater core. From what I've read on here there is no way to fully flush the heater core. The coolant can bypass the blocked parts of the heater core. There was a thread about it recently.

The only type of coolant for these Jeeps that works, different than OAT coolants (all universals, Dexcool etc). OAT coolants will cause corrosion and eat the water pump impeller.

What is HOAT?
Hoat stands for Hybrid Organic Acid Technology.
This chemistry combines the best of conventional and organic acid-based chemistry.
It will provide the ultimate protection against rust and corrosion, for our cast iron blocks/aluminum head Jeeps, with plastic impeller water pumps.
Hoat coolant should be re-newed every 5 years.
Always refer to your owners manual which can be downloaded free, regarding coolant, gear lube, fluids specs etc..

Last time I had the coolant serviced it was by Jeep dealer.
They have a re-circulating machine, which removes all the old and installs the new.
Distilled water and pure (not pre-mixed) Hoat is mixed in their machine for a final temperature rating...
I asked for 65% Hoat & 35 % distilled water, which gave me -58 Celsius.
I Always use an anti-freeze tester before winter, to ensure that the Jeep is still within specs.
I use Dealer Hoat for top ups, like when I replaced the top rad hose.

It is full strength, not a premixed.

Does anyone even look on their owners manual anymore?...or just grab what sounds good and get that?

I always get Mopar HOAT from the dealer. And funny thing is that it costs less than the incorrect "universal" coolant that everyone keeps dumping in...
You can get it around here at any dealer premixed or concentrated.. $15 for pre-diluted, $16 and change for concentrated...
So for $16 and $1.29 for a gallon of distilled water, I'll spend less than 18 bucks and end up with near 2 gallons of the correct coolant...versus spending $16 on a single gallon of incorrect coolant...
HOAT OR ZEREX G05 ONLY.
Seems it gets mentioned in every single thread that has to do with the cooling system....yet still...somehow...

I was having this exact same problem with heat only working at higher RPMs and was really surprised that adding about a quart of coolant fixed the problem. Might be worth double checking the coolant level.
