Well gunna be getting a block heater within the next week or two depending how long shipping takes..
Did some searching and seems that every install question thread ends with a trip to the dealer. Found one thread that seemed to have an install link, but the link was broken.
But my question is has anybody just gone through the install themselves?
Just have to drain the coolant and bust out a freeze plug to install right?
I have 2 gallons of Hoat that I keep in my garage and don't really feel like a trip to pay the dealer for something that can be done at home easily..
So my question becomes, any tips from anyone who's gone through it themselves instead of taking it to the dealer?

Here is a nice write up with photos: I would ask dealer if they may also use a sealant, does not seem to be mentioned in instructions.

Luckily as a Canadian export mine came with one!
I made an extension using a Husky HD drill cord, to protect OEM wiring, if I ever drive off with it still plugged in..

and moved the cap onto drill cord.

That's a really good idea. I might have to steal that one!

Appreciate it guys! While reading the link TC posted people say they picked it up for 40 bucks.. seems it's doubled in price in the past 6 years lol.
Can't wait to get this thing snugged up in the block.
Do you think for the freeze plug you could use a sharp knife and poke a hole into the freeze plug that you could grab ahold of the plug with? This way I wouldn't risk knocking it into the block?
That's the only part I've been hesitant on

A knife shouldn't go through a freeze plug...at least not if the plug is in good condition.

Use a punch along the inside edge and smack it a few times. It should tip in the hole and not fall in. Pliars or a screwdriver should get it easy from there.

I'm not familiar with the v6 so my advice isn't based on liberty 3.7 experience. I have no idea how much room there is to swing a hammer in your Jeep. I used socket extensions through the wheel well on my Ford pick up.

I suppose you could drive a small freeze plug all the way into the block if you had big punch, big hammer, clear shot, and bad plan.

Only had a problem with an Audi freeze plug. It's going to need destructive deconstruction like everything on that car.

Where does the block heater go in the v6? My neighbor has a new Charger Rallye with a 3.8 v6 he thinks is very similar to the 3.7 v6 and he can't find where it's supposed to be or go.

On the 3.7 the block heater installs in the middle freeze out plug on the passenger side. there are 3 plugs on each side not including the 1 on each side on the back of the head.
