Hi,

Now that it's getting cold and my wife is driving the Liberty most of the time versus the convertible Thunderbird, she wants to know if we can install a remote start on it since it doesn't get to live in the garage and be at least a little warmer than outside.

Was there a factory remote start option on the 2002 as I didn't find it in the part fiche? If not, does anyone have a recommendation on one and is this something that I could install or do I need to get someone to do it?

I've had a Compustar on mine for the past 6 years with no issues. Mines a manual, so there was a bunch more safety wiring involved. I had a buddy of mine that installs them for a living "help me" (do it for me while I watched). He recommended the Compustar brand to me. I would pony up the cash for an install unless you are really comfortable with all things electrical. I'm fine doing aftermarket stereos/amps/subs, etc, but I wouldn't touch that mess of wires.

Thanks, I'll check out dealers that carry Compustar locally and get a quote. I was hoping that I was missing some factory option and that it was more plug and play.

I don't have the factory parts book in front of me, but I don't think they offered a factory setup (add on) until 05.

That seems to match what I was finding in my searches as even aftermarket options were only listing for the later ones.

I had found an older thread either here or on JeepForum pointing to some Jeep part numbers that would work for a 2002 but I'm pretty sure it's wrong based on my searching.

I installed an Avital 4113 last year on our '06 and it works well.
