Awhile back, I went to put one of my spare head units into my KJ and when I finished everything up (all wires matched up correctly) I turned on the head unit and it worked fine, except for the fact that there was no sound..
About to give it another go around, but wanted to ask if I need to bypass the pre amps on my front speakers to get sound? If I bypass it, will I have to run speaker wire to the other speakers as well?
I have searched through threads. But never able to find the right answer and it's much easier to ask instead of getting annoyed at the search button :favorites68:

Dont need to bypass, but you need to hook up the remote wire to turn the amps on.

if in fact it has the infinity amps then yeah connect the blue(amp turn on) wire.

Can't really make these pictures out.. but I believe I have premium sound.
If I were to judge by the way my stereo has always sounded.. I wouldn't guess I had the infinity system.. but pop out the speaker and there's amps connected.. so I guess that's premium sound lol..

So I pulled it out to check, REM wire is hooked up.
Starting to think maybe I just have to order the adapter off Crutchfield.
The adapter I have is a scosche from Walmart that says it can be used on 02-06 libertys.
The wires coming out of the connector seem to be placed exactly the same as the one from Crutchfield so I decided to try it out.
There are 2 extra connectors (gray and black shown in picture) but they're basically just extra wire as each of the ones I need, coming from the middle gray connector..
Has anyone used these connectors and can help?
Or should I pull it all back out and wait for the adapter from crutchield?

I used a Metra 70-6502 Radio Wiring Harness For Chrysler 02-Up Power 4 Speaker adapter, Double-DIN Installation Kit in Matt Black Finish and Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface for the steering wheel controls on my 02 with a Kenwood head unit and had no issues. I also have the powered speakers and they sound great with the upgraded head unit.

Did you burn out a fuse?

Just looked and this is the harness from crutchfield that I had mentioned..
The one I'm trying to use now is a scosche version which basically has the same connector as the metra(same color wires routed in the same pin locations on the connector) but has extra wires which run to power the other 2 universal connectors

This is the wiring diagram for the metra adapter and when comparing them.. the one I have seems usable but still no sound...

there is a possibility that you may need to replace all speakers and run new wires if amps wont turn on or are dead.

I had a similar problem when I installed a radio on a mustang and they were funny, and easy to fix. One, the antenna connection had came loose and pulled out which caused nothing to work. The other, the leads were switched (paying attention to a puppy and not the wires) so the speakers didn't work correctly. It's worth the shot to check to make sure the positives and negatives are not switched, or touching.

One, no. And two, no.
As for mustang, I redid my Mach460 system when I got my sn95. Still have it, still have the unit in it with my kicker speakers and my eclipses in the trunk in premolded boxes.. but..
That's however interest, irrelevant to what I'm asking.

I'll just get the Metra harness from Crutchfield.
If it doesn't work either, I guess I'll just say screw it and leave it. Will only take a few hours but not worth the speakers or wiring.

All of the adapters on Crutchfield are normally available on Amazon for less and with quicker shipping options. That's where I bought mine. Just copy the part name and or number into the search bar.
