Hey all,

So, once in a great while, my Liberty will kind of die off while trying to start. Kind of like using a non chipped spare to start the car. It only happens once, then it starts right up. The issue normally happened once every few months for the last year or so, but now it seems like it is doing more often, and just kind of straining to start in general. While it does run great for the most part, it idles rough. The tach doesn't move, but you can feel a choppy idle.
New plugs (NGK, gapped properly), new air filter, cleaned the IAC and TB, run premium fuel, frequent synthetic fluid changes, all 4 O2 sensors replaced. Not sure what the issue is. Anyone else had anything similar happen?

Get the battery load tested. Jeep can do weird stuff if battery is on it's way out!
Battery terminals tight, clean, free from any corrosion?
Rough idles, replace pcv valve, look for any broken pcv lines/vacuum leaks.
Spray a little throttle body cleaner around intake when running and if idle stumbles, gasket problem.
Mine was wonky at idle /rough starts/ and with snap on scanner connected, could see misfire counts happening, with no engine light /codes.
Ended up replacing plugs, IAC, TPS, coil packs, better now but still not perfect.

My jeep is having the same issue. I have yet to figure out what it is. If I do I'll let you know.

It is strange, isn't it? I really think it has something to do with the passive security killing the ignition, but who knows?

My '05 has done this as well. Pretty sure it has to do with the immobilizer. I find if I turn the key to the on position, wait until the fuel pump turns off, then start it, I have no issues.
