Hi. I have a 3.7 liberty and wondered.
When I engage 4wd high or low the front end when I turn seem to lurch and struggle.
Does the transfer box lock the front diff so there is no speed difference at each wheel or do I have a problem.
When I put it in 4wd ( not locked ) it runs and turns fine.
I know the front and back travel at the same speed when locked.

Yes, that is normal, and that's why you never want to put it in 4x4 on dry pavement (loose or slippery surfaces only). If you continue to do this, you will cause ($$$) damage to the transfer case.

To clarify, no it does not lock the diff, but it locks the transfer case (50% to front and 50% to rear). In a turn, the front wheels are turning at a different rate of speed, so things get unhappy in a hurry.

As stated, it's normal. When in 4wd and turning, it's the speed difference between the front and rear wheels. That's why it should only be used on slippery surfaces, so the wheels can/will slip when turning.
