I took our 02 in last Thursday for this and still don't have it back! They replaced the original which was working fine from all indications (Air bag light comes on and then goes off when you start it) and they're telling me that the replacement leaves the air bag light on and they can't communicate with either the replacement or the original, but when you put the original back in the air bag test light still seems to be working correctly. (Argh)

They have a call/mail into Jeep but I'm tempted to just tell them to put the original back in and forget about it. I'm worried this "free" recall work is going to end up costing me money as they'll find something else wrong.

Still haven't had that one done. I had the jumper harness but not that one. Now with it sitting in the garage half apart, who knows if I ever will. Engine is now a fall project. :Insane:

even better, get there with trailer in tow, and the stuff is total CRAP.
so I wasted my time getting unpacked, packed, and now unpacked and packed again.

I thought that stuff only happened to me. :help:

now I just wish i could get a longer cable for this lock:

could use it at 9' instead of 8'. then it would be perfect.

semi related: fixed the winch
1/0 3/8" ring terminal and a 5# sledge, an hour later and she's all wound back on the drum.

2006 jeep liberty "Camo Critter"

I waxed her after she got a brand new set of General Grabber AT2s on. And I finally had time to finish the grill so it matches the rest of her. Camo Critter is slowly getting there.

Drove up an unmarked series of old logging roads to see where they went. I thought I would end up either at the top of Spanish Peak or maybe in the vicinity of Silver Lake, where in the summer of 1970, I was on a US Forest Service crew that built a 4-hole crapper tank out of concrete (someone built the structure on top of it later). I did get within 3 or 4 miles of the lake, but nowhere near the mountain top.

During the drive, I crossed a small creek. I didn't know how deep it was, but there was a lot of tire treads on both sides. My front tires no sooner got wet when I bottomed out on a boulder that sounded like it rolled along under my Jeep until I got to the other side. It was a horrendous sound and I really thought I was either gonna see my temp gauge go into the red or my gas gauge quickly move to the E. Neither happened.

I kept going. On a particularly rutty stretch of almost road, I saw a large rock I thought I had plenty of clearance to straddle. Uh-uh. That rock hit the underside of KJ hard in a couple of places. Again, my eyes darted from gauge to gauge and I'm dreading no cell service - or even if there was, how could I tell them where I was.

That was an exciting 3 hours. I really did enjoy it. But I can't wait until I can do the lift. I can't see myself traveling over much worse terrain, so a 2½" lift should be just about perfect for me. Isn't that what you ended up with Perfesser? Oh, and more skid plates. I got the transfer case covered, but nothing else. Maybe I should take it to the shop Monday and ask them to hoist it to have a look-see.

Yes that would be good to check it out for sure .
The Prof ended up close to 4 inches of lift ( 3.75-4 )
My 03 is at 2.5 inches of lift if you need pics

I worry about being able to get in and out of my Jeep if I go too high. I'm old, fat and infirm - and I have to get in like a contortionist because I have a fat tank of oxygen strapped to my back (it's in a CamelBak backpack).

The skidplates I'm using are Skid Row, so kinda heavy. Would that reduce my overall height on a 2½" lift? I'm guessing adding clevis spacers can get me back to 2½". I'd like to go as high as possible without having to change out my differentials.

You've shared your 03 pics a lot already, thanks. I been thinking about starting my own lift topic, but I think the perfessor's has us all kinda burnt out. ;) I'll give it a little more time. I'm ordering parts as I can afford them, so I'm a ways off yet.

I don't think the skids sag you down much at all.

You should be ok getting in and out, especially if you got a set of rock rails to use as steps.

Mine had a sliver removed from his foot (nail in tire), tires rotated, gassed, vacuumed, washed, a couple spots on the upholstery cleaned up, and interior wiped down. All before noon.

I should really take the time and claybar/wax the exterior... but being that I'll be spending 3+ weeks on the road with it here in a few weeks, I think I'll do that when I get back.

OK on my 03 with 2.5 inches of lift and 265-70-16 tires on MOABs my drivers seat is about 34 inches ( from ground to seat bottom ) I also have leather seats out of an 03 which may make a bit of a difference as well.
So maybe you can find something about that height to see how it would be.
ANOTHER trick I do for people wanting to lift is stick a floor jack under the transmission cross member and jack it up. Measure where you would when checking height , then try and get in and out . Works great.
