Ever since I got the Renegade my wife has been jealous of the 4WD grip and stability - especially in winter. Since we're coming up on winter, and her Fusion needed a set of tires she decided she wanted to be a Jeep girl.

She did her research, asked me to go along for a couple of test rides and chose a 2016 Renegade. She thought about a Trailhawk edition but didn't want me taking it offroad :happy175:

She calls my Renegade "Darth Vader" and her Renegade is "Stormtrooper" :icon_cool:

Lots of features for a very competitive price. Yep, it's a car based Jeep but I feel better that my wife feels confident driving a 4WD vehicle - and gotta say, pretty cool to see two Jeeps in the garage at night ;)

I love those new Renegades. Thinking about trading the WK for one.

2 Jeeps in the house? Try 3 plus the British cousin but only one is driveable at any given time. :D

Your wife made a good purchase there Bob.
Even tho one is small, the other tall with a real bumper, they look great together!
I am hoping they do produce a Jeep Pick up soon...got room for 3?

Now you're in trouble! Next thing you know she'll be taking the KJ and leaving you Stormtrooper!

:happy175:

Nice addition the the family!
Also cool Names, can't go wrong with the Empire, unless you're up against a Jedi of course!

are there any parts available for the new renegades yet?

As a matter of fact, Daystar has a 1.5" lift kit, rock sliders, LED light bar, winch bumper, cam cans and other stuff. I've already put some of those things on a wish list at Quadratec but my wife wants to put at least a couple thousand miles on it before I start tinkering :happy175:

Renegades are pretty cool. I'd take one. Like them better than the run-of-the-mill Cherokee.

Does your new Rene have the dual panel sun roof? Those are definitely awesome. What color interior?

Yep, the dual removable roof panels were a requirement for my wife. Pretty cool system - the front one operates like a standard sunroof while the back one is manual.

She got the dark interior - I'd call it black but it's official name is probably slate or something. Came with the Jeep all-season rubber floor mats - not as deep as WeatherTechs but very good mats in any case. Also heated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated windshield wipers, heated side mirrors, fog lamps, cornering lamps (the cornering lamps turn on on the side to which you're turning), remote start, keyless push button start. Doesn't have the tow package or the large UConnect system with Nav, etc. The audio system has satellite radio, bluetooth/hands free for the phone, steering wheel audio controls, tilt/telescoping steering wheel. And it's the Latitude model, not the Limited or Trailhawk. Most of that stuff came standard.

We took it on a 400 mile trip this weekend - really comfortable, lot of fun to drive.

That sounds really nice. Is there room for the removable panel in the Jeep?

Was it hard to find one with the sunroofs? I've checked 2 dealers here and none have them.

Best feature of all...IT HAS A WARRANTY :D

The removable panels fit in a soft-sided storage case that fits under the rear cargo area. You lift up the rear cargo floor and slide the storage case into that space - fits perfectly.

There is no spare tire with the Renegade - not even a "donut" spare - unless you order it specifically (It may come with the Trailhawk I'm not sure.) Instead of the spare you get a "fix-a-flat" system that includes a compressor and flat repair spray. I thought that was pretty cheesy but I guess all manufacturers are going with a system like that to reduce weight and meet the Fed's CAFE fuel requirements.

We had our choice of a couple different Renegades on the lot but they didn't come with some of the other options my wife really wanted so they did a dealer locate and found the one we bought at a dealer in the region. i don't think they're that hard to come by around here; maybe it varies by area...?

I never thought the day would come where any new Jeep, would leave an owner without some kind of spare tire..:Insane:
Bob do you plan on getting the spare?
Also, I notice it has fog lights, are those projector types?

No, I don't think we'll get the spare. There would be no place to store the roof panels with a spare in there - plus there's extra storage in the area where the spare would go.

Gotta say, in over 100,000 miles driving my KJ over every type of surface I've never....

Whoa, almost caught myself saying something that would get me in trouble. Let's just say I don't foresee any problems with flat tires.

As for the fogs, yes they are projector lamps.

What kind of compressor did it come with?

Used to have an 02 Bravada that had a built in compressor...it was really nice for airing up the tires or back tires. Actually, I'd probably get more use from that then a spare tire.
