I'm getting the PO700 code with the mil light on . I have read there are several sub codes related to this code . Yesterday I noticed that I don't have a 4x4 dash light that comes on when the transfer case lever is in any position . Will the switch / sensor for the dash light malfunctioning cause the 700 code ?
The transmission seems fine & the transfer case does work fine when the lever is moved into the 4x4 positions .

I wouldn't think it would...best bet is to get it read by a shop with the proper scanner for the transmission. How many miles do you have?

The P0700 code is the "TCM requests MIL to be turned on".

You need a better scanner to read the trans codes, there are several hundred that will trigger the P0700 code which is the only 1 that can be viewed by a global OBDII code puller.

I read a rather long thread concerning replacing the selector switch I'm referring to . A couple of the posters stated that the switch communicated with the pcm when the lever is placed in the 4-low position .

The t-case position sensor will not cause the check engine light to turn on in a KJ.

That much is a known fact.

Nope,my sensor is not even in my KJ anymore and no codes. The connector is just hanging and I have a '02 KJ were being in 4low changes the PCM programming for more torque.

My '04 does too.

Calling me a liar when I had a CEL for this? Code was P0836 if I remember correctly. Of course the switch was out for years before that MIL came on...

No P0836 code for KJ's,not even in the system. Now for KK's there is since they have a computer controlled t-case.

You got a phantom code, just like I always have p0101 MAF code in my KJ but as anyone with one knows the 3.7 does not even have a MAF.

When the P0700 code turned on in one of our KJs, we noticed lots of hesitation. After that it drove fine. Ended up replacing Torque converter and a solenoid. That's all. But by what you describe, you probably just need a flush or something. A good mechanic will be able to tell you exactly whats up with it.

As stated, best is to get it read by a shop so they can give a better diagnosis.

When is the last time your fluid/filters were changed?
Mileage?
