I am currently have way through installing the OME 2.5 inch lift. All I have left to do is to switch out the old springs and shocks with the new ones on the front. How do you guys put the new struts in? I unbolted the uca ball joint to get more clearance, but still had to unbolt the clevis fork and finesse it off the strut just to get the old one off. The front sway bar is also disconnected. Is there a way to bolt up the new strut with the clevis fork attached?

I put the coilover up in and start a couple of the outside bolts on top, then attach the clevis to the bottom of the shock. Then if need to hook a ratchet strap on the clevis legs and pull them into alignment to install the clevis bottom bolt
Is that what you need to know?

You know what would be cool? The next time someone goes to install of these parts, mount a freaking Go-Pro on their shoulder and record the whole process. Then edit the video to contain the removal/installations that people always ask for.

I'd do it but I have neither my lift yet, nor a Go-Pro.

For tommud: Thank you. That does help.

For JasonJ: You gave me an idea. I have a gopro and a head strap mount for it. I may have to try it out.

I'm getting my struts redone at a shop today, so I'll try to put at least one in today.

But the issue is with recording, is it being done right with the shortcuts etc that one can do?
Personally I have heard of ( and seen a couple ) of Youtube videos on doing different things and most are really crap done by someone who has limited knowledge of what they are even doing:thumbsdown:
Plenty of writeups on here and LOSTJEEPs, is there an issue with old school reading ?:icon_lol:

You'll be fine, R&R front should be less than 2 hours

I'm a hands on and visual learner. I sometimes cant get a clear picture in my head of what to do until I start tearing into it. Then again, I don't do enough reading sometimes. It took three hours for me just to do the rear.

Well hands on is the best, you are removing the same system as you are removing, not like you are modifying a part from something else to fit on the KJ, unbolt, bolt back up

Now the front is going to be delayed. I took the front struts to the Firestone close to me, and they said they don't think their machine will fit in between the coils. Now I either have to find another place to do them at, rent spring compressors, or to put the old struts back in and wait.

Would advise against renting those cheap head knockers
You may get the old ones compressed but be really hard to compress the new ones

If I were you I would go to a local Napa with a machine shop. I say that because they have the machine to compress the springs.

I got it all together now. The downside is that I don't have time to get it aligned today.

I just took some quick measurement at the front. The right front is right at 21 inches and the left front is at 20 inches. They were both close to 18.3 inches before the lift.

What OME springs did you use, should of gotten 2.5 inches if the 927s , so should be 21.5 with no extras

I was just reading that some OME springs are designed for certain sides of the vehicle. I didn't bother to check the tags at all. That may be part or whole of the problem.
