so i got the recall a while back about the trailer hitch. i never took it in because i think its fine and i dont want them screwing with it.

today i get another notice and a promise of a $100 visa card. what if anything will they do if i take it in. a free $100 isnt bad, but i dont want to lose the factory hitch i have now. i like it.

anyone done this yet??

Yea i got the notice today. It says on there what they do if you already have a trailer tow package jeep. If they can replace Some Bolts they will if its corroded the whole thing needs to be replaced. Something like that all the info was on the notice.

Yeah, I just got the $100 gift card offer the other day too, it's to "compensate you for your time". I didn't plan on taking mine in since I already have a Mope-are hitch, but now I guess I will.

As far as I know the recall applies to all KJ's. Did you get a notice in the mail?

Are you the original owner, or at least owned it before the recall initially came out? If you recently bought it, previous owner could have taken it in already, and your Jeep would have then been taken off "the list".

I read they want to look over the factory installed hitches to see if there are any rough protursions or crooked installs that might reach the plastic tank in an accident. Adding them provides more protection. A free-for-all; I paid for mine and had to hunt for the trailer brake wires. Nothing in the many booklets or service manuals on where they were. I was LOST.

The recall process for me has been pushy, arrogant, authoritative, and obnoxious to the hilt. The dealerships&$##%&-+()(-&%##%-+++(*"#$*+-$$%*+((*''';:"*::;/:"'"!!!!!!!!!

I will never buy a new car again.

No $100. here.

Done some checking and found out that the previous owner took care of the recall in 2013.
