2006 Jeep Liberty 4x4.
It used to have problems backing up hill, even in 4wd. Seemed like the ESP was activating and limiting engine output, no matter how hard I pressed the gas pedal. It would literally go a fraction of a mph.

Last week I was forced to back up a driveway and it took a whole minute to go <100 feet. Smelled a bit hot, and then the ESP/BAS, ABS, and "skid" lights all came on when I started driving normally. They have remained on, and the CC won't work... but now, it backs up hill just fine. Interesting???

Ideas?

I had all those lights come earlier this year. The TC,ESP and ABS where all disabled. It was a bad ABS sensor. My mechanic took care of it for about $85 (diagnosing, part and install).

Question though. When you say CC, Do you mean TC for Traction Control?CC doesn't ring a bell for me.

Yea i realized what you meant by CC when I was driving around yesterday. I didnt think of it at time of my previous post bc I was thinking of items related the TC and ESP.

And now there's a slight rubbing noise coming from the drivers side rear tire at low speeds.

Hmmm.....

Check your sensor and tone ring. I've had a sensor come undone and I simply hooked it back up and it worked good as new. The dealership was fiddling around and they probably didn't reconnect it appropriately.

I did have an Explorer that froze a caliper, overheated the brakes, and melted the ABS sensor [emoji15] I hope that's not your issue.
