Hey guys! I'm new to the jeep/off road world. So, my grandmother decided she didn't need this jeep as much as I do. So, she gave it to me! It's an '02 Liberty. 3.7l, 4wd, completely stock and 76k miles on it.

I'm looking for some tips on what common mechanical issues I should look out for and anything I should replace or upgrade right off the bat in order to avoid any future problems. As far as I know, there are no mechanical issues currently and it doesn't leak anywhere, yet.

My goal with this jeep is not to be a crawler or anything. I'm using it for getting to hunting/fishing spots and some light off roading.

Thanks for the help.

Nice looking ride. Mine has a valve cover leak, which I heard is common. I also have 167xxx miles on mine, but it is fun to drive.

Nice! I've actually done a little wheeling today and I'm a little impressed with some of the hills I climbed with it. Already addicted!

76k she is still new. Congrats. You shouldn't have too many problems with such low miles. I would look into skids and some all terrain tires to help you get around and protect your undercarriage. I also would suggest laying a good coat of paint under her to help with rust prevention and gloss paint makes cleaning easy. Maybe some fuel injector cleaner and a oil treatment to make sure the engine is nice and clean. Obviously didnt get alot of drive time.

The muffler was worth it to me $100 opposed to a cat back sytem costing $400-$1000 . I like the sound lets me know when i am hitting the gas. And as i said about the paint its really easy.

That's not bad at all. And the paint doesn't seem that it would be too difficult. Thanks for the help.
